How does coach Miami Dolphins coach Tony Sparano – whose team popularized the Wildcat – feel Tebow would do in the formation.
"Oh, I think he'd do fine," Sparano said.
"There's so much of this Wildcat going on," an AFC scout said this week. "If someone is willing to give him a shot, they might also look at him at (the Wildcat)."
Sparano is careful about comparing Tebow to other quarterbacks in the Wildcat or any other system. The Dolphins used last year's second-round selection on West Virginia's Pat White, a shotgun quarterback who rushed for 81 yards and did not complete a pass in five attempts.
While other teams might use the Wildcat for a diversion, the Dolphins run the Wildcat for power. With Ronnie Brown as the quarterback and Ricky Williams his backfield mate, teams know what's coming but still have trouble stopping Miami's toughness.
The Dolphins, who are coaching this year's Tebow-led South Team, might not be looking for a quarterback with Chad Henne positioned as the franchise's future.
"You're looking at different players, you try to identify their skill sets and see if it fits you and your team," Sparano said. "In our case, Pat White was a guy we've seen in this (Senior Bowl)."
