Everyone expects because of the dolphins schedule, playing the AFC south and the NFC south that the dolphins are in for a nosedive. But nobody gave the dolphins any credit last year and look how it turned out. Sparano should have won the coach of the year award hands down. Everyone talks about how Parcells shadows over sparano, but parcells has nothinig to do with coaching the team, and sparano deserves all the credit. Another year with a new free agent and draft class, the dolphins should be even better next year and ready to compete for the afc east again. Even with Tom Brady back with the patriots, i have no doubt the dolphins to make the playoffs, even if as a wild card. Expect ronnie brown, with another year removed from his knee injury, to carry the team. but the big reason were going to win is cause of sparano, he deserves some credit. we really havent had a coach like him since shula.

I am not worried, this team will be FIRED UP AND HUNGRY, there will be no let down with this crew. I look for this team to battle hard each and every game, and WIN the majority of those battles. This team is ALOT BETTER than most think.

I think everyone here knows Sporano's impact and I don't think anyone here thinks Parcells deserves the credit.

Parcells brought Sparano. I think BP gets a **** ton of credit, and he deserves it. We may take a backstep in terms of record next year, but, there is no reason why we can't improve. Right now, IMO, we are better than at the end of the season last year.

gotta love sparano..i like how he's already preaching how last year's over and it has nothing to do with this year.. i'm sure before the season started last year, every team had a W penciled in when miami was on the schedule.. the schedule may be tougher but i think the dolphins got better.. pennington will be here all off-season instead of 3 weeks before the season started..the young guys all got experience and we'll have another draft and fa..parcells definitely deserves credit for bringing sparano and ireland in..also, give huizenga credit for bringing parcells in..

Sparano is a good coach for rebuilding, no doubt about that. I got a little worried when I heard that he had spent time in the hospital after the season - or around that time. He seems to take a lot passion and personal gain/loss in the the success of the team. I hope that he never gets a raw deal, because men that love football as much as he does never deserve to do so. In all, he's a perfect coach for team in the midst of rebuilding. teaching tough and disciplined football. Time will tell if he can take a team to championship level.

He's been a HC for one year (and done pretty well), and already he is only a good "rebuilding" coach? Give the guy a chance, he seems pretty good to me.

I was impressed at how quickly he realized the interior line was a serious liability. Further, he came up with a radical approach that gave his team its only chance to win. That is excellent coaching not just good.

I like Sporano as much as anybody. I agree he should of gotten coach of the year too. saying the BP is not helping sporano is silly. Sporano has some of the very best help a rookie coach could ask for in Parcels. Sporano would not have been as sucessfull as he was without BP being there.

Sparano did an excellent job last year but I still have a wait and see approach about this regime. How good he is will be determined over a period of years not one year. How often has a coach went from coach of the year to utter dissapointment the following year. Saban had a board of believers after year one that did not seem to doubt anything he did and we know what happened year 2. I know someone will chime in with something to do with Parcells but it has been about two decades since he led anyteam to a superbowl so he is not a magician. I personally think we are headed in a better direction and hope he is the man to turn us into a superbowl champion but I take nothing for granted.

There were three good canidates neither answer was wrong.Im sure if you were an Atlanta fan you would agree with the selection.

I agree that the award went to someone who had an impressive year. Bias fan or not I would still make the argument that Sporano accomplished more with less then either of the other two coaches. Intrestingly enough all 3 coaches hit gold with new QB's and is really why the conversation is even taking place. Without Pennington is Sporano a coach of the year nominee? No Ryan? No Flacco? Same question

I guess your saying you feel Parcels is overated?
I will say that I think he is underrated

Well I think Atlanta had just as little talent overall they just played better the previous year while we had better talent than our record.

I think u did hit the nail on the head about qb's. That is the number one reason we went 1-15 while Redman played ok for Atlanta the previous year.

Was funny how people blasted Atlanta when they draftedRyan on this board and so many predicted failure. Looks like we would have did fine with Ryan or Long at our pick. I liked Long just because he was a safer pick in a position of need. We actually were very lucky that Henne was still on the board because obviously this regime does not see Beck as a future starter.

I think he is overrated but he is still a great football mind. I also thought Jimmy Johnson was overated. Underrated I doubt that because how many team Presidents are mentioned as much as him. He is definately a hall of famer but some act like he never makes bad choices or he just builds superbowl teams which is not the case. I personally think Shula was a much superior football mind and turning the dolphins into the dynasty they were from being an expansion team in such a short time is the greatest job ever done.
