Defensive line: Top 5...maybe the best. Taylor, Carter, Holliday, Bowens, Chester, Bowens, Zgonina and Roth. Saban will be bringing them in WAVES. I can't wait to see it.
Linebacker: Middle of the pack. Our high end guys (Thomas and Seau) while getting old are still top flight playmakers. Channing Crowder is a good addition but the rest of our depth is either unknown (Spragen), undersized (Pope) or always hurt (Moore).
Secondary: Middle of the pack. Our corner depth can stack up with anyone but with safety such an unknown that has to knock us down.
QB: Bottom 10. Until A.J. Feeley plays consistent, mistake free football for a long period of time our ranking stays the same. I think a change all accross the board in the coaching staff will help him bigtime.
RB: Middle of the pack. This goes to top 10 if Ronnie Brown has the type of season we all expect (1,200 rushing, 40 catches and 10-12 TD's). Lamar Gordon is a good backup and a good complimentary player.
WR: Middle of the pack. Our starting two could be a top 10 pairing (if we EVER see the "breakout" season from #84) but our depth is...um...not good in my opinion.
TE: Top 10. Randy McMichael is a top 10 recieving tight end. with more consistency he can be a Pro Bowler. Donald Lee is a decent back up who will benifit quite a bit from NFL level coaching (unlike what we have seen in Miami for the last little while). I could see Lee having a breakout season in Linehan's two tight end offense.
O-line: Bottom 5...BEFORE the coming of the Houck. I think Hudson Houck's presence makes this a middle of the pack unit immediatley.
Special Teams: Top 10: We have a decent kicking game (it can be VERY good if Mare ever wakes up). We finally have a game breaking kick returner and we had good coverage units last year even though they were ravaged by injuries.
