He said Rosen looked the part of an elite QB, but he was never healthy at UCLA. He said he faltered at crunch time , was arrogant and never seemed to have the confidence of the team. Maybe after last season and being traded, he has eaten some humble pie. Just food for thought.

Having seen Rodgers up close and personal when he was in school, Rosen does remind me of him. Humble pie was a really good thing for Rodgers (both the draft day fall and sitting behind an indifferent mentor) - without it he may not have been quite as successful.

Consistent with what I had heard. Often arrogance is the result of insecurity, which is essentially a lack of confidence. It's hard to gain confidence if you don't make friends easily, and it certainly doesn't help when you apply too much pressure on yourself or you consider yourself a failure unless you're putting up HoF production every time on the field. Ultimately, Rosen's greatest strengths are in his head and his greatest weaknesses are in his head. Just my $0.02.

Rosen is only 22 and still growing up and learning about life. He seems to be a little different type of cat than say Sam Darnold. He seems to be eager to please this staff. He says all the right things since he got here and now he's being asked to be a good soldier and be a back up. Rosen will do all that he's asked but underneath it all I'll bet he can't wait to go out there and just ball out and prove all the naysayers wrong. That chip is growing!

And I’ve been saying all along I think Flores is intentionally growing that Chip. Make the kid want it so bad he can’t contain himself. Don’t “hand” it to him like Douchebin did w Tannehill after going like 10-1000 in preseason - ruined from the start. We all saw Rosen played better than grizzly adams and offers more upside. He’ll start soon. But stew on the bench a bit, learn to be a good teammate and when you get your chance go out there and never look back.

Great post!!!! I think this is what's going on. Flores plays some Psychological games, like the Jay Z songs in practice to mess with Stills. He makes you want it so badly that you can taste it, then he yanks it away leaving you wanting it twice as bad. I don't know if this is some secret Patriot motivational trick or not but I fully expected Fitz to start. I'm very high on Rosen and I think our staff is also. They've seen this kid play very well at times in the pre-season. The o-line is a work in progress and with real Baltimore Raven bullets being fired Rosen's safest spot is the bench. Let the thing play out from there. Jason Taylor pointed out that if Fitz comes out winning games Rosen may be on the bench for a while. I hope that happens as a fan but I'm not expecting it from this depleted roster so most likely scenario is we're something like 1-3 going into the bye week. After the bye, I believe that's when Rosen get's his shot. Rosen can throw the ball with uncanny skill. Give him time to throw and he'll hit on lots of big throws imo. If we also have a viable running game to keep the defense honest we can be pretty good with Rosen at QB.
