We've lost Sammy Morris, David Bowens,and Travis Minor.These guys were all good special teams players. I know alot of people could care less about special teams ,however it is an important part of the team. What do you guys think do we already have alternatives on the team or could it become a problem?
 
is bowens really gone i havent heard anything...that guy always comes back
 
Who needs offense and special teams when you have a good defense.:wink:
 
Well as much as I dont want him, if we get Ginn Jr., he does ST's as well. That could fill a void left by Welker leaving. Who knows. Trust in Cam and Randy...they will get the job done....
 
i think we could add some special team players in the later rounds of the draft, we have 9 picks overall so far!

I agree....we have all the way up till Aug to find ST players. We will get someone in the later rd's or FA. No worries....:cooldude:
 
special teams is the least of my worries. special teams is usually the 2nd and 3rd stringers of a teams roster. you usually pick them up via waiver wire and/or 2nd day of the draft.

Yes, Bowens' contract was up at the end of the season. Right now, we have 5 second day picks. That should be more than enough to fill out the rest of our Special Teams.

The only one I would be worried about is Orlindo Mare. Are we going to be able to replace him? If so, will he be an upgrade?

Nevertheless, special teams is mainly your K, KR/PR, LS, P, and your 3rd stringers and some backups.

Least of my worries.
 
Special teams is not a problem right now because we are still one week into free agency and 7 weeks away from the draft. The special teamers will come from the lower round draft choices, undrafted rookies and probably the June 1st cuts.
 
Thats why I like drafting Michael Griffin. He is said to be the best ST's guy in the draft. That's also why I like Bryan Leonard and Yamon Figurs so much. With Leonard playing ST's we wouldn't have to use Peele or Rader on coverage. And that would be a good thing because they really suck at tackling.

Figurs is supposed to be the best flyer in the draft. And can return as well.

We may also be looking for a punter and a kicker.

Also picking Wendling (Safety) in the fourth gives another tackler.

Yamon Figurs was the fastest player (4.30) at this year's combine. He is probably as dangerous a kick returner as there is in football.
