Over the course of the off season we have seen that if there is one thing that CamRam covet's it's pure Speed. From every position on the offense there is no longer a "slow" player. Already i can see the changes, and let me tell you i'm excited!!!

The Saban Era: If there was one thing that saban liked, it was not turning the ball over. So as the season went on he collected a bunch of reliable players who wouldn't turn the ball over, but also were not explosive. He figured we'd be a ball control offense with a strong defense. When linehan came on board we definatly saw the gameplan for a fast strike team, but we never really saw the results because the personel just did not fit the scheme. Once mularkey took over it got even worse. Defenses were not scared of chambers or booker. They knew we would be conservative so the safties krept closer and closer to the line of scrimmage with every single play. This really started to hurt everyone. Suddenly teams had more options to blitz from. The holes in the middle of the field were getting smaller. Other teams could put 8 in the box without worrying about a long pass. Ronnie was getting hit in the backfield. Joey was unloading the ball to quickly....it was a bad time. Especially since our defense was doing so well....

The CamRam Era: Defenses better be ready, cause our boys are running to the goalline! The first difference you have to look at is the offensive line. Where before the inside was filled with gigantic and slow run blockers, we have replaced them with nimble and strong juggernauts. This helps us in two ways. 1. Our pass protection should be better as we struggled mightily against fast defensive linemen, 2. Our run selection has just doubled. We can now effectivly execute sweeps and counters because our linemen are now fast enough to get to the edge and cut off the tacklers... Chambers might be able to get back to form again. His position change and the addition of world class speed on the other side of the field will keep those safties back. Since our linemen should be better at pass protection, we can add in more deep routes that take a little time to develop. and with a threat on both sides of the field, it will force defensive cordinators to gamble on their protection package....TE David Martin is an exceptional and fast TE, that could be VERY good if he can ever shake off the injury bug. Faster, and more sure handed than mcmike, Martin will try to channel the position like antonio gates did before him at San diego....FB- Whats it worth to have both a Sledgehammer and a Juggernaut? If both these guys make the team then we will all be dreaming about some HUGE goaline jumbo packages...It's time to set ronnie free! Ronnie will expand his role this year with more runs, and more passes thrown his way. If there is one thing that Camron is good at, it's changing his scheme to fit his players. In SD his best players were Gates, and LT so he molded the offense around them in order to get the best production from them. Expect the same thing here!.. Thne it's time to add in the scary guys..Lorenzo Booker, and Tedd Ginn JR...When these two are on the field it will give the defense FITS! With them on the field defenses have to worry about long bombs, sweeps, reverses, double reverses, half back options. Booker has so much flexibility that teams will have to learn to play us in a whole new way!!!

The downside: This whole thing is a work in progress. Every part of our offense is relying on a lot of untested talent, and potential. If one thing will define our offense it will be youth. It will take time for our rookie linemen to gel. It will take time for lorenzo booker to learn his multiple roles. It will take time for the juggernaut to get to full speed, it will take time for the fastest man in the NFL to show off his speed. The problem is that not all of us have the time to wait for us to blossom. I'm talking about JT and ZT. Their time is running low. We may be inexperienced, but we owe it to them to try as hard as possible, and push ourselves to the brink of failure, and realize our potential. Next year the defense will be good, actually it will be REALLY good! If our offense can find it's rhythm we could compete for something. We could get back to the playoffs...i'll leave it at that. You can't get your expectations up to high....

What i have been trying to say this whole time is that the right things are happening. The right players are on our team. BUT it's going to take some time. We HAVE to be patient. There is no lightswitch to turn on, no bus to climb onto...Just hard work and repetition.

Soon the NFL will be scared of us again. Very soon.

I shockingly agree with most if not 90% of what was stated... I just really hope to see Regan "The Juggernaut" Mauia do some damage... and I hope Ginn plays at WR after the half in the preseason games, at least for a taste of whats to come....

Well thats why we drafted Ginn instead of Quinn so we are going to find out this year about how important speed is.

I agree with most of what you said and I am also excited to see how it will play out on the field.

Good post. I like that part about our fullbacks.

Corey Schlesinger = "The Schledgehammer"

Reagan Mauia = "The Juggernaut"

Damn, I'm get fired up about the season just thinking about our fullbacks on the team this year. Maan, it's going to be another looong summer waiting for this fall to get here.

I can't wait to see how our offense has improved. I sure have missed the days where we could score at will...

excellent points!

The key to this season's offensive success and therefore the teams' success is all in the Oline play. IF they gel and become a formidable unit, we will be able to run and pass and then score on most teams. Our defense will be solid and thus we will win more games than we lose. However, if they play like they started to last season... NO QB nor RB will be safe behind that line. Thus, our punter will get a LOT of work and so will our Defense.

The key is Offensive Line. Houck has to make these guys play well, or else maybe 08 will be good.

The difference between the 2005 offense and the 2006 offense is the offensive coordinator. Personnel was not the problem when talking about the skill positions.

You'd better hope Ted Ginn plays WR, because your coach failed to tag him with a position at the draft party. There's been talk of him moving to CB, but I don't know about it.

I don't think he's going to hold up at WR in the NFL. He's a shorter, faster Pinkston, who can return kicks. He doesn't like to go over the middle, and he's not a very good blocker... hopefully he gets healthy for you guys though.

I really think we will be better in that area with all the athletic guys we got this year. I remember us going against cover 2 teams last year with their small fast lineman and having them give us fits....

hopefully we'll be like SD where cam's system was easy for rookie linemen to pick up....

Ginn will be a WR....The talk of him being a CB came from Ginn before the draft who stated that he loved the defensive side off the ball.

As for going over the middle that point is of debate. He didn't go over the middle because he had no routes that went there. Basically at Ohio they only gave him 6 different routes to run, and only 1 wen't over the middle.

As for Pinkston, you really need to see Ginn's highlights from ohio. There you will see over and over again that ginn is great at breaking tackles and turning the corner, and he doesn't run to the sidelines for cover like santana moss. Also you can't be a return man if you are scared of contact, and ginn just happens to be one of the best...

And yes. Ginn is not a good run blocker in the least. Luckily however he will be a Z receiver so a Te will almost always be on his side of the filed to fill that role....

I really can't wait to see this guy play for us...Gil Brandt went on record that when he scouted santonio holmes last year the one guy he couldn't keep his eyes off was Ginn. Gil said Ginn ran the fastest forty yard time he had seen since Darrell Green.

There are still a lot of holes, but the groundwork is there. Saban tried to fill the QB and LT spots, two of the most important offensive positions, with vets. It didn't work, as we saw. Now, we have a young QB, RB, LT, and C. If Ginn can be a good receiver, who knows how productive we can be.

mmmmmmmmmm I wouldn't say that

He went over the middle, even inside the twenty, repeatedly in College. Check out his highlight tapes on youtube; one is 7:48 long. He can catch in traffic too. Ginn is going to be special beyond being Miami's fifth down.
