Spielman must GO TOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This guy actually traded what will turn out to be the 33rd pick in the draft for A.J. Feeley...

unbelievable...yet he gets a free pass around here.

Start Over...Please!Please!Please!

For the love of God, let it go.

No way Rick or Dave could have foreseen Ricky quitting and D.Boston getting hurt. I want Wanny gone because he has sucked for 4 years. Spielman needs to be given the chance to rebuild. I think he'll be fine

I beg to differ with you. They do bear some responsability. When they traded for Ricky it was not a secret that he was a headcase and unpredictable. But they ovelooked that and went ahead with a trade that only could be justified if you thought Ricky would be a steady performer for at least 5 yrs.How else can you justify giving two No 1 picks for him.It was wishful thinking.

On the Boston trade it apparently was a good deal giving up a low draft pick. But he did have an injury history.I remember when the trade was made Maddog reported that he had inside info that Boston was damaged goods and would probably get injured easily due to disproportionate upper body compared to his lower body.I remind you that his salary DOES count against the cap this year.I hope not, but we may have another one of those lifer IR candidates in our fold.More wishful thinking on the part of the FO.

I rest my case.,

Then you may want to brush up on your facts before you rest your case, my friend. First of all the Phins did not give up two first round picks for Ricky........one 1st round and a 3rd that was subject to become another first BASED ON RICKY'S PRODUCTION that year. The term "headcase" has been run into the ground already. At the time of the trade, Ricky was diagnosed with SAD (Social Anxiety Disorder), which seemed to have become a major problem for him when he came to N.O. as it wasn't a problem in college (I watched him every Saturday while living in San Antonio). He sought treatment for SAD and was doing quite well here in Miami. You claim that Williams was "unpredictable", then please give me one example of his unpredictability before he came to the Phins that should have kept us from making that deal. Hell, he wasn't unpredictable here until right at the end (notice that he had also stopped his treatment regime by this time). Until he made the call to Wanny, he had done EVERYTHING asked of him. The bottom line is that there was NO reason NOT to make the deal for Williams. He was no bigger risk than many big players in this league.

On to Boston and the damaged goods claim. Yes, he has had his share of injuries but has worked to get back into shape for this team. Thanks to Sullivan, Boston has worked with Phins trainers to get down to the requested weight in order to play for this team. Since Boston came here, he did everything asked of him and he was doing a great job. Unfortunately he sustained a season ending injury that had nothing to do with the previous injuries claimed by Mad Dog. These things happen......they happen to ALL teams. So, before you call Boston a "lifer IR candidate" maybe you might want to see what he does in the next couple of seasons before making such a silly comment. Afterall, I am SURE that our FO really works extra hard to seek out those IR lifers to blow our cap space on.

These were BOTH solid moves to address problem areas that our team suffered. They were BOTH very good players at the respective positions. You CAN'T blame the FO for making these moves. In fact, I am willing to bet that you were praising the FO for making these moves before things fell the way they did.

Derrick Deese is who I would have gotten. You know the guy who has given up around 1 sack in 3 years.

About a hundred other guys besides St. Clair (who absolutely didn't block anyone on at least three plays last night), a RG (who we should have never had in the first place because we should have Chris Simms), Jerry Fontenot (who played better in two days than our starter), LG who went to the Jets (forget his name).

I really could go on.

Right now we have a 2nd rd pick LT (Wade Smith), a 1st rd pick (Vernon Carey), next years 2nd (Feeley), next years later 3rd (Gordon), Marty Booker.

1st rd pick, 2nd rd pick, 2nd rd pick, 3rd pick, Adewale Ogunleye for THAT!

Sorry, but someone has to be to blame for it.

If you know so much about Ricky then you should know that he expressed an interest in retiring several times when he was in N.O.

When a player talks that way it usually means that the end is near.

As far as Boston goes I have no doubt that he worked hard and wanted to succeed and I do hope he fulfills his potential. But take a look at his body.Huge upper body, skinny legs.Blazing speed. There is something called the law of physics at play there.

And if you know as much as you think then you would know that he wasn't treated for SAD before coming to Miami. This guy had a ton of pressure on him. At both places he was expected to be the saviour of the franchise. It's very coincidental that he didn't start talking retirement here until after he quit taking Paxil for his SAD. To compound his problem here, he began to totally rely on weed as the sole method of "treatment".

When a player starts talking retirement at such a young age, it usually means that he is not happy where he is. Didn't you catch that from BOTH N.O. and Miami?

Boston: What's your point? He has a huge upper body and his legs are NOT that skinny. The guy has minimal bodyfat. He dropped alot of weight in order to regain his shape and speed. If I am not mistaken, he got back down to his playing weight that he had with the Cards......and we remember the season he had with them, right? He just got a bad break.....he'll bounce back. Hell, at least we didn't go and sign someone like Deion.....remember him? This is the guy that spent either his last 2 or 3 years on IR for turf toe while collecting a fat check from those idiot FO's. TURF TOE! And the sad part is that someone was very eager to sign him again after years out of football. At least it wasn't US.

Bobby baby are you basing this on a game and a half of his time as a Dolphin? you being on the writing staff I'm a little surprised. let's give AJ a little more rope before we hangem' I personally like AJ just my opinion but after 4 yrs. of Jay I think AJ deserves a little more time.(not to mention the O-line) Also if AJ's a bust hindsight is always 20/20. I think RS has done a pretty good job considering this off and preseason.

They also traded there dignity, and tainted the SB rings. I cant believe your actually implying this wasnt a bad idea by the Broncos...Its good to see how much you condone cheating to get what you want:shakeno: .
Every team circumvents the cap in some form or another. I'm not up on exactly what the Broncos did, but they probably just pushed it a little further than they should. However do not believe for one sec that other teams are not circumventing the cap. Signing a guy to a 7 year deal just to get the signing bonus lower per year and giving him a salary of 10 million for the 4th year, knowing that they will not pay that is circumventing the cap.

So you guys think our offense would be better with all Dave's guys in there?

Wade Smith, Jamie Nails, Ruddy, Perry, Todd Wade? Thompson and Chambers? Minor, Fiedler and McMike?

That would be our offense. Think that Nails, Ruddy, and Perry would do better?
hell of alot better then what we got now!

I'm not so sure. Wayne seems to be a hands-off kind of owner (as opposed to Jerry Jones of Dallas). I just think that the problems snowballed on Rick before he could even get the GM seat warm. Granted, he knew that there were things that needed to be fixed before he stepped into this position but I am quite certain that he was not remotely ready for what happened since he was hired. We are not in a position where rebuilding is a realistic option as our defense is getting older. This would explain why Rick went after the best FA OL he could and drafted the best OL on the boards at our pick. He hoped to get talent that could come in a make an immediate impact. The ONLY thing that I still wonder about was the McIntosh signing. I stand by my assertion that he has done the best he can given the circumstances. I also believe that it is too early to be calling for his head. I say give him a couple of years to work with this team. I think that we will be pleasently surprised. Dave and Co. (with exception of Trestmen, Bates and Sullivan) are free to leave at any time.....preferrably before they hit the locker room after the last play of the last game this season.

Didn't mean to imply Wayne was a hands-on owner like Jerry concerning personnel matters. Wayne is very involved on the management level making sure the FO goes in the direction he wants. No rebuilding & put best possible team on field every year w/o causing future salary cap problems (no rebuilding process for the future either).
Didn't mine McIntosh's signing but it shouldn't have been needed. Rick should have never let Tait get out of town. I know his wifie wanted to live in midwest & something about Mormonism but wanted FO to make an offer he couldn't refuse, like Detroit did with Brown. Not said in hindsight, felt that way at the time. Signing would have been huge...not only as a starter at RT but had past good LT experience if WS continued to struggle. I shouldn't rehash that, but was a big mistake.
Even so, still believe Rick has done a good job in spite of all the difficulties. Also believe Wayne will give Rick (and Wanny unfortunately) till the end of next season before making any drastic changes.
