It is almost inconceivable RB Ricky Williams will be on the Dolphins' opening day roster. Don't forget that G.M. Randy Mueller, now making the Dolphins' personnel decisions, is the guy who traded Williams from the Saints in 2002 when he was general manager in New Orleans. No one in the league is more familiar with Williams or has more reservations about his bizarre behavior. Williams' request to be reinstated after his suspension for drug use could be approved even before the draft, and he'll wind up playing for some team in the fall. Just not the Dolphins. . .

Just his opinion I guess but we will see soon enough.

If Cam wants Ricky then he'll be on the team. If Randy doesn't want him.... well... who do you think bends?

I think Randy bends, Cam knows what he needs to run his system. If Ricky fit's Cams system, Ricky stays. Ricky's cheap, he's talented and he's a good teammate. Ricky claims he hasn't smoked weed in three years and not failing a drug test for weed in the last three years supports that. So to think Ricky will wig out is unlikely IMO. I think Ricky's matured and wants to play. If plays for Miami I'll be thrilled, if not, then I'll wish him the best.

It appears Williams won't be back until some time after the NFL draft. Mueller had doubts about Ricky, which proved true, and he traded the man for what became TWO first round picks. Not many Dolphin players that you wouldn't trade away for two first rounders, right?

The trade value for Williams is, at best, a third rounder. He is also the back-up RB to Ronnie Brown, so there is less risk if he flakes out again, compared to how Wanny based the whole Dolphin offense around Ricky back in 2004.

Right now there is more value in having Ricky on the Dolphins, then trading him away for a fifth or sixth round pick.

Ricky belongs here IMHO. Cam SHOULD want him here as he was provent to be effective in tandem with RB. He needs to do what he can to play within the rules and take some ol' habits and put to the side at least during the season or whatever not be suspended AGAIN! Randy having reservations (and Cam for that matter) is understandable. But, when push comes to shove it is better to have him here then as you stated let him go for low value draft pick.

I hope that's not true, I just don't see that anyone will give up enough to equal his value in a trade and I think Ricky is going to go on a tear this year. We need Ricky Williams on this team...

it would be truly sad, and a piss poor utilization of manpower, to release ricky and a trade for him that nets only a low round draft pick in next years draft is assinine! So i would assume that Mueller will do all of these things and remain true to form!:shakeno:

they need ricky to start at running back, I think he's better than ronnie

The team shouldn't trade him, if you bring in a rookie Qb then he will need a good running game so he won't have to do it with his arm right away.

Why does the NFL make sure they tell their teams they will come out with decisions on Pacman Jones and Chris Henry prior to the draft for Titans and Bengals but they won't tell the Dolphins Rickey's situation? Here's the Dolphins giving up a home game for the NFL (Giants) and they don't give the same considerations.... That's a bunch of crap....

Miami needs a backup to Ronnie Brown.

Sammy Morris & Travis Minor are gone.

If Ricky Williams doesnt get reinstated before the draft why would the Rams (the only team to inquire about Ricky) still want him?

If Ricky gets reinstated before the draft, (which I havent heard is going to happen) what would St. Louis give up for him?

At Ricky's price I'd say he's worth keeping as a dependable backup rather than take a chance on a back who may or may not pan out.

The owner of NO drove that trade, not Mule. He was the one who wanted RW gone at any cost. He was still pissed that RW cost him his entire draft that year...Mueller was simply the tool to make the move...That is why Mule ended up leaving NO, because the owner continued to interfere with his personnel moves...

We definentely should keep ricky better on our side than against us, he is a great runner.

Plain and simple we need ricky ronnie alone will not do it.

Have you been paying attention? Mueller has done an outstanding job so far.
