QB Colt Brennan's draft stock had plummeted long before his recent hip surgery. Brennan is expected to make a full recovery and be back on the field in July. But serious questions remain about his accuracy, arm strength and delivery, and he has been unable to keep his stock from free-falling since Hawaii's embarrassing loss to Georgia in the Sugar Bowl. At best, NFL scouts view Brennan as a long-term project who has a better chance to be a backup than a starter. Some team may still take Brennan as high as the fifth round, but he could wind up as an undrafted free agent.

Interesting. Wonder if he was an UDFA if he would come here to take snaps again from Satele. ;)

he will prolly be a late 6-7th round project pick, i do feel he will be drafted, especially with his hard work in getting up to 218 lbs.

Hmm, hes taken quite the fall, but IMO hes way to talented not to be drafted. Some team will take a flyer on him sometime starting in the fourth.

i think that talent is the one thing keeping him back, he is a smart football player, not to be confused with colt the person who showed up drunk and nude ot a party and was arrested, he is small but doesnt play small, he has no arm stength, overhyped accuracy but he is a leader knows how to react to coverage defenses ( the only kind he saw at hawaii) and is a good enough athleat to do something is the play is broken. if anything he is an athlete with a footballers mentality but his arm is the thing holding him back, IMO even more than his size, or lack there of

I hesitate to write anything about Colt Brennan, because honestly, I like his talent and he's really looking like a bust. I don't like his history, let's make that clear. He's too small, too thin, throws a contorted side-arm delivery worse than Bernie Kosar, and doesn't seem to have enough arm strength to get the job done. But at the end of the day he's very accurate, has a fairly quick release, and seems to do a great job of knowing who to throw to and avoiding the interception.

To me, he's the ever-revered Sand Lot Legend.

Nope, not a guy plastered on the cover of magazines, not the guy everyone expects to lead a team to the Super Bowl, not guy scouts are going to drool over. But everybody knows one ... the kid who didn't have the measurables to play pro ball but everyone is in awe of when they actually play with/against the kid.

Weak competition. Yup. System QB. OK, sure, no argument there. But, if YOU were offered this would you turn it down:

"Hey kid, I'm gonna offer you the chance to redeem your character and salvage your playing career. You will play in the paradise that is Hawaii, and in our system you're going to get to pass the ball all the time and you will become the most prolific passer in the history of college football ... and be labelled a 'System QB' by the draftniks. What do you think?"

Now that's not an actual quote, I am totally guessing what the recruiting speech was ... but honestly, would you pass that up?

So yeah, he's spindly (weak, brittle, skinny, not-tough, small, 115 pound weakling who gets sand kicked in his face at any beach outside of Hawaii) and he's got an awkward/ugly release, but this kid could be dynamite in a West Coast Offense. He's played pitch-and-catch, kinda like playing putt-putt golf then entering the PGA. Will there be adjustments, sure, but as they say in golf "you drive for show and putt for dough." At the end of the day, when he's allowed to find a rythm, this kid is going to get blisteringly hot. Protected, armed with the right offensive system and receivers, he's going to be a good QB.

But he just isn't a Parcells QB. He's not tough, he's kinda scared of big rushers, lol. He's no mental giant, nor is he a true leader of men. Outside of his comfort zone, he's going to melt. But he has undeniable talent, and if he isn't drafted--which is his best case scenario to be honest--he's free to pick the team/offense/situation that best suits him, and he'll probably be THE priority undrafted free agent if he isn't drafted.

The kid can sling the rock. For all his faults, that's not one of them.

i was real impressed with him on rome is burning

i would give him a look with one of those compensatory picks if i was gm

but im not

Dolphins RB Ronnie Brown is ahead of schedule in his rehabilitation from knee surgery. Brown is expected to be ready by the start of training camp, although the Dolphins plan to be cautious with how much they work Brown until the beginning of the regular season.
