### Whereas the Dolphins are pleased with left guard Dallas Thomas, we hear there is some disappointment internally with right guard Billy Turner and a concern about the number of times he has been beaten and the consequences of those breakdowns.

Rookie Jamil Douglas is being given an opportunity to challenge Turner. The front office entered the offseason fully expecting Turner to be a quality starter, but he will need to show more to keep the job all season, even if he opens the season as a starter.

The Dolphins liked Evan Mathis, who signed with Denver today, but only at a certain price. They weren't willing to pay as much as Denver did.

### Joe Phibin said Walt Aikens did a "good job" in his first game starting since Louis Delmas' season-ending injury... .Philbin, on Gerell Robinson, who has the edge in the battle for the No. 3 tight end job: "He’s a good athlete, a good target, runs well, catches the ball well and he seems to have a knack for finding the soft spot in zone coverages. He seems like has the ability to separate. He’s probably further along in the passing game than the run game. He’s done some good things.”

### This could help in creating a better home-field advantage at Dolphins and UM games: Under Sun Life Stadium reconfigurations, 2225 seats will be situated between 60 and 88 feet from the field. Last year, there were none within 88 feet.

Capacity has dropped from 76,018 to 65,326.

That guard position is not set. I do not care what I read. More work to be done.

Interesting to see philbin talk so high about Robinson.

I thought they Would look for more of a run blocker as a 3rd TE, but guess they really like Robinson. He was a WR in college, he was pretty good too, will be interesting to see if he can continue to develop.

I'm hearing titans will probably cut Levitre. I wonder if he Would be a player we may go after.

I don't think there's a single poster that doesn't know how you feel :chuckle:

FINALLY, the franchise has a QB to grow with into the future and they let him be exposed upfront. Unreal.

Sounds like it is real. There are cuts coming though so there maybe options on the horizon.

Turner is a disappointment, Hopefully Douglas steps up but he is green but not James' level of green.

I am super encouraged by both Thomas and Turner. I see Turner consistently dropping butt and anchoring with good feet. I thought it would never happen. Thomas has been really solid in preseason. Turner has made some mistakes but those are not drastic. They are so much more ahead in development than I expected. I am surprised that we do not run zbs into LB level that much. I dont know if coaches dont trust them or they do not want to emphasise the blocking scheme in preseason but I am mildly concerned about zbs in run game from this group because I have not seen them attempt it or execute it in preseason.

You know, given what we know, I can't help but feel there may be an ouster of Joe Philbin in the works. I don't think Mike T. wants him to stay, and should the team succeed, he'll have to keep him.
Not addressing the O-line guarantees the Phins will underachieve, after EXTREMELY high expectations have been set, which guarantees an easy firing of Philbin (which many FH posters should be thrilled about).
The hand-selected new HC will be in position to succeed mightily.

I don't get it, Dollass Thomass was good at the RG position last year b4 Albert was injured and he gets moved around for Pouncy and the **** hi the fan.

To be fair. In Lazor's offense if we have a problem, minor problem, at RG it can be covered by play calling can get doubles from Pouncey or a RB. If somebody goes down there is an issue, but what team doesn't have that?

So you think Tannebaum, who loves Tannehill, wants to get the quarterback murdered so he can get rid of Joe? That's like saying I don't like the headlights on my car because they are not bright enough, so I am going to crash into a wall so I can get some new ones.

You can simplify it to that if you'd like. Politics in large organizations can be complicated, sports or otherwise.

I'm not saying that's what IS going on, I'm saying if we get to the regular season and there haven't been any significant attempts to address a situation that is clearly (and Mike T. is not clueless) going to jeopardize a season of high expectations, it's going to feel more and more like that to me. Zero depth behind gimpy Albert and one and a half very shaky starting G positions...these are somewhat fixable problems RIGHT NOW regardless of cap situation next season. Either the FO doesn't believe the rest of the pieces are in place, or they'd rather not have all the pieces in place this season. Why in the world wouldn't you go all out? Heck, you've even got Brady out for 4 games maybe. You've got a favorable schedule. You've got a re-energized fanbase. And you don't take advantage of all this because...you think TWO G's are going to develop to be adequate and Albert will stay healthy? No, it's not just idiocy...there's something else going on there.

Again, I'm saying I'll be thinking more along these lines IF the status quo remains.

I should also point out that I was not a fan of specifically signing Mathis. But I AM a fan of seeing them do SOMETHING to shore up the G position and get depth behind Albert.

I have to believe a mid round pick could net a decent O-line player, and I'd be willing to do it, because that's how good I feel about the rest of the team. Simply no reason to unnecessarily cripple an offense that could be special.

Not much available right now to help us out. I have heard the trade talk around the league is heating up today so there could be some moves made by the Fins but I think they will wait to see who is cut.
