DOLPHINS ITEMS

### The Dolphins’ depth at receiver has caused some unhappiness. A team source said Rishard Matthews asked for a trade before the regular season started, but the Dolphins declined.

The Dolphins’ desire to play Matthews some, and rookie Jarvis Landry a lot, has resulted in Brandon Gibson’s snaps sliding from 41 per game last season to 31, and he has been targeted only five times. Gibson acknowledged he would get more playing time elsewhere but said he won’t complain.

Landry, who said his fumbled punt last Sunday was the first fumble of his life on a return, played more than Gibson last week, surprising some.

### The Dolphins need to give Chris McCain some defensive snaps Sunday and at some point need to figure out the best longterm position for the promising rookie. He had a sack in the opener, got sick and didn't play any defensive snaps last Sunday, which surprised him. McCain believes he would be best long-term as an outside linebacker, but the Dolphins are using him as a defensive end half the time.

### The Dolphins promoted defensive back Brandian Ross from their practice squad today and released defensive lineman Bruce Gaston

Matthews needs to learn how to catch instead of droping everything his way.

Keeping Matthews was absolutely the right move by Hickey. After last year's injuries at WR when Matthews stepped in and played so well, he proved that our level of depth is absolutely needed. Plus, Matthews needs to see the bigger picture. Gibson will likely not be with the team next year because of his salary. That would leave a top 4 of Wallace, Hartline, Landry, and potentially Matthews. He just needs to bide his time.

As for McCain's usage, I think he's absolutely right. He probably should be used exclusively at linebacker so he can learn that position. I personally think that Dion Jordan should have also been used exclusively at linebacker. Why eliminate what a player does well to put him in a position to do things he does not do well?

Yo Rishard, when you get an opportunity to make a play on a football...

Perfectly put

Who the hell does Rishard think he is? I've been a big supporter of the guy throughout, but that's absurd. You want more snaps? Earn them and play better than the guys ahead of you. Frankly, he's been our worst WR so far this year.

As for McCain, I have no idea why he's not receiving more snaps. With his build and athleticism, we should absolutely develop him as an OLB. We can't just develop everyone as a DE. We all know our LB corps needs the talent. I hope McCain gets a lot of burn this week.

We have a deep WR corps but lets not pretend they're amazing. Something's wrong with this guy if he looks at Hartline's game and comes to the conclusion the competition is over before it begins.

That touchdown catch Rishard had that he didn't drop that led to us getting a touchdown and not a field goal was huge..... wait something isn't right.....

Our WR corpse is deep.

Six feet deep.

I'd put him at OLB and leave him there.
