[h=3]Among those in the works: defensive end Chris Clemons. His camp got a call early this morning, asking to set up a visit. Even though Jones is in the building today, the Dolphins apparently want to consider multiple options for a significant defensive end role, as part of a rotation with Mario Williams (who figures to play the vast majority of downs) and Cam Wake (the Dolphins don't want to overwork him).[/h][h=3]Clemons, 34, has 69 career sacks, including 37 for Seattle from 2010 to 2013. He started 11 games for Jacksonville in 2014 and had eight sacks and four forced fumbles. Last season, he played in 16 games for the Jaguars, starting eight, and had 14 tackles, three sacks and one forced fumble.[/h][h=3]Pro Football Focus rated him 111th of 111 qualifying defensive ends last season, but several teams appear to strongly disagree with that assessment. Eight teams have expressed interest in Clemons, and he visited the Seahawks earlier this week.[/h][h=3]Meanwhile, the Dolphins are among teams that have expressed interest in Eagles and former Dolphins free agent cornerback Nolan Carroll, according to a source. A visit has not been scheduled, but there has been communication between the sides. Carroll also is talking to the Eagles and others.[/h]

We are so much more concerned with the defensive line than the offensive line. Completely idiotic to spend more of our dwindling resources on another DE and not even be sniffing around a guard

so jason fox is gone, good job Gase. But the fact that Dallas Thomas is still here is scary.....sorry Gase.

I said this in about 5 threads so far; everything done so far indicates to me that the pick at 1.13 will be a G/T. A guy who can play guard for a year or two and slide out to T to replace Albert.

Either the first or 2nd round pick will be an olineman and I expect another later on as well. Thomas shouldn't make this roster. Conklin at 13 if he falls..I'd like Drango in rd 2 if he's there. Or a LB or CB in the first is how I see it. Maybe Dodd if he falls to 13...

Especially since there are also a stack of good young DE's coming up in the Draft. Clearly Gase and his coaching team are comfortable about recruiting more mid 30's veterans. This appears to be fundamental shift in roster construction philosophy. It may work or it may not, but the openness to recruiting a lot more experience is something we haven't seen in years.

Bringing back Carroll would make sense.

I think CB or pass rusher at #13 still makes the most sense. Offensive line maybe in R2. Jack Conklin is a possibility at #13 and wouldn't be a bad pick. Tough guy who could play LT, but probably best suited for guard.

This team need veterans if they still can play 16+ games.
This team is obviously being rebuilt with all the moves.
Our lack of attention to the oline is almost ridiculous. I do not want to see RT get sacked 40 times in 1016.
Compared to the trash at DB we've had, Carroll is a pretty good player...we need him back.

We'll target OG in the draft, only so much you can do in FA and the Guards were expensive, better value in the draft. I will be shocked if Dallas Thomas starts this year, I don't expect him to make the team. No need to panic yet.

We absolutely need an early down DE to compliment Wake. We obviously need a guard, but we very clearly need an early-down DE. We're replacing 2 DE's, it should be a high priority.

I've never seen a team's roster age this dramatically in such a short amount of time. Yet some would sell us on the idea that this is Tannenbaum building for the future. Bull****.

They replaced OV with Mario. And then what exactly? Building for the future with multiple comp picks is a much more accurate narrative than paying a similar talented edge rusher twice as much money and saying we're getting older. Maxwell is 5 years younger than Grimes as well.

FTB is right on.

From what I understand, we're making moves that are going to net us multiple compensatory draft picks -- including a third rounder -- and really the only place we've gotten older is at DE. We actually just got younger at CB to counterbalance that.

Give it time. I'm being a bit preemptive here because I see a very clear direction Tannenbaum is taking as it fits his mo. But I should know by now most posters here would be terrible at hangman. They need things to be spelled out to the bitter end and then have their faces shoved in it for a few years before they realize what's happening.

Yawn!
