Sports Buzz: Smith the next target, Browns reportedly might draft Tannehill at #4

Even if the Dolphins had a different valuation for Flynn, it doesn't mean that Philbin didn't want him or respect his abilities. it just means that the Dolphins didn't want to pay him what Seattle felt he was worth. Maybe because they would have to restructure contracts or cut a guy like Bell (I wish they would), etc. Again, to repeat, it doesn't mean that Philbin didn't want Flynn.

You guys are such fools and I hope Ireland and company don't fall for this bait. Tannehill is such a stupid reach at 8 it's almost laughable. He's very raw and wont be ready for a 2-3 years, let some other foolish team draft him in the first round. Imagine trading up to get him, talk about a clueless organization.

I'll take Mike Sherman's opinion over yours.

No offense.

Wow, finally somebody that understands. Thanks. We didn;t sign Flynn cause Philbin knows him, contrary to a lot of posters here that don't understand why we didn't sign him. You know, the ones that know more then the guy that actually coached him for 4 years.
ok, i buy that except that we brought him in this weekend. was that just a favor to beef up his stock? we were'nt actually seriously considering a contract with him?

For months i've been hoping for a Blackmon/ Weeden 1-2 combo, but Blackmon at #8 is beyond iffy. But I'd still be VERY happy with DeCastro/Weeden. I haven't seen enough of Alex Smith to have a very firm opinion of him, but Moore has shown promise, although he needs to prove himself more in the clutch situations- Brandon Marshall sure didn't help with all of those TD drops.

Personally, I'd be fine with Moore, Smith (again, not sure of him, but seems worth the gamble to me) AND trading up to get Weeden in the late 1st early 2nd rd unless Cleveland takes Tannehill 4th overall- God, would I like to see that happen.

1. David DeCastro

2. Brandon Weeden

3. Rueben Randle

3. Joe Adams

4. Brandon Mosely

5. Jake Bequette

6. Devon Wylie (props to CK)

7. Brandon Lindsey

Fix the f****** offensive problems, then worry about the defense which has already been helped by FA

i think they would've signed flynn if he came for a reasonable price but he didn't so they passed that obviously means something just isn't enough for philbin

The Cleveland Plain Dealer believes the Browns will "probably" select Alabama RB Trent Richardson or Oklahoma State WR Justin Blackmon if they keep the No. 4 pick.
Whether or not they stick with Colt McCoy at quarterback, the Browns need a wholesale upgrade of their offensive "talent." Richardson could be the more likely target for a team that let Peyton Hillis walk in free agency and spent a second-round pick on Greg Little in 2011. Mar 18 - 12:20 PM

Do we know that for sure? He was the first free agent QB after getting Manning failed for us so obviously there was a reason for that. Philbin didn't get to do the negotiating that was Ireland, who, it would seem, gives off a bad vibe to a lot of players. Something Flynn alluded too when he signed with Seattle. So Philbin could say "we need to sign this guy" and Ireland says "I'll take care of it" and then offers him a contract that Ireland feels he's worth and fails to land the free agent because the offer is insulting, Ireland is condescending and arrogant (which he comes off that way to me in his interviews) and the free agent is turned off.

OK. Agree with most of the above comments. I still believe bringing in Gerrard looks like a sign of desparation; especially if Smith is just using us to get a higher price from the 49ers.

We still need a backup QB, Gerrard fits that to a tee.

I dunno, if I were Cleveland I would go with a premium player at #4 (like Trent or Blackmon) and take my chances with Weeden at top of 2nd round.

THe Browns aren't exactly the best drafting team in the league so who knows what they'll do, I hope they draft Tannehill. He's just such poor value at number 8.

Personally, if they want A.Smith then wait until Manning signs and then over him a 5 mil per year contract...who else is going to offer him a deal?

If Gerrard is a backup and we draft QB with number 1 or second round then dolphins would be putting lots of dollars into a 3rd string QB drafted in the first or second round. Does not make sense to me unless they believe Moore is just not a good fit for WCO.

You really think Ireland would get away with a move like that? Ross might be ignorant of football operations, but I don't think he is stupid enough to know a relationship between a GM and HC like you just proposed would not ruin his billion dollar investment.

I would not be shocked at all if Miami takes Weeden at 8. That might be where this is headed.
