Sports Buzz: Smith the next target, Browns reportedly might draft Tannehill at #4

Everyone saw this a mile away. Everyone except Jeff Ireland. I want to play CHESS with Ireland for money.

How one moves effects 3 moves down the road. If he didn't see by getting cheap with Flynn would mean "possibly" having NO legit QB options other than David Garrard (who probably won't come here anyway) then he shouldn't be in charge of the draft come April

For months i've been hoping for a Blackmon/ Weeden 1-2 combo, but Blackmon at #8 is beyond iffy. But I'd still be VERY happy with DeCastro/Weeden. I haven't seen enough of Alex Smith to have a very firm opinion of him, but Moore has shown promise, although he needs to prove himself more in the clutch situations- Brandon Marshall sure didn't help with all of those TD drops.

Personally, I'd be fine with Moore, Smith (again, not sure of him, but seems worth the gamble to me) AND trading up to get Weeden in the late 1st early 2nd rd unless Cleveland takes Tannehill 4th overall- God, would I like to see that happen.

1. David DeCastro

2. Brandon Weeden

3. Rueben Randle

3. Joe Adams

4. Brandon Mosely

5. Jake Bequette

6. Devon Wylie (props to CK)

7. Brandon Lindsey

Fix the f****** offensive problems, then worry about the defense which has already been helped by FA
I really like that draft..but only if we got Anderson in FA. Otherwise I would take a pass rusher in the first..whether you take a big swing for Coples or trade down and look at Ingram, Upshaw, Perry, etc. Big fan of Adams and Ruben Randle. Also wouldnt mind Ty Hilton.

With the 1st pick in the 2013 NFL Draft, the Miami Dolphins select .....

nah...we'll win 5 games with matt moore and end up picking in the top 12 somewhere but just late enough that we get jobbed on the top qbs...like this year

good luck joe philbin...

If we got these 2 guys in this draft at these positions, that would be a homerun. RR was the #1 WR prospect in the nation coming out of HS here locally, and even with horrific Qb play his entire career at LSU he was a guy that could not be covered one on one. Joe Adams is a speedster and has great hands, and is an electrifying return man. The possibility of us getting steals like this is about the only bright thing to look forward to at the moment..

just wait til ireland trades the two 3rd rounders we got for marshall in a package to get minnesotas #3 pick and take tannehill...that will be the icing on the cake...lose an alpha wr and the picks you acquired for him traded in a 5 spot move up for tannehill...plus a boatload of other picks

don't put it past him...

Ireland's not doing that. It's not in his character.

Now, taking Kirk Cousins or Nick Foles in the 3rd round and declaring the QB position solved? That is in his character.

Ireland has proven over and over again he doesn't really know how to scout the quarterback position nor does he understand it's value. Even the thing he did say -- that we need someone to get us "over the hump" -- sounds like something Ross said that Ireland heard and nodded and said he agreed with but consciously or unconsciously has ignored or subverted. That language, the phrase "over the hump", just reeks of Ross. I can't point to specific moments in press conferences but I know I've heard him use that phrase more than once.

Ireland just doesn't know what to do at quarterback, which in his line work should be a fireable offense... except that Ireland has been gifted a slow learning dingbat for an owner who apparently is the only person on Earth who's susceptible to Ireland's charms.

Think about it for a minute, and you realize Jeff Ireland has literally never had a long term plan for the quarterback position that he executed and was successful. Tony Romo wasn't a guy Ireland championed in Dallas. Romo just sort of fell into his lap, as did Chad Pennington. Ireland is 0 for a career when it comes to quarterbacks.

It continues, and will continue, as long as he's here.
