Aside from the gaffe involving Satele, the first-team offensive line was sharp. Shelley Smith got the majority of the first-team snaps at right guard and blocked efficiently in the running game.Dallas Thomas was beaten in pass protection on one of his first-half snaps, forcing Tannehill to rush a throw.

With Daniel Thomas and Mike Gillislee both sidelined with hamstring injuries, Damien Williams and Orleans Darkwa both excelled in their bid for roster spots.

The Dolphins unveiled a package in which Miller and Moreno played together, with Miller motioning out to receiver. "There are possibilities there, part of the package," Philbin said.

Jason Trusnik started at middle linebacker. Jordan Tripp again impressed with a couple of impressive plays, just as he did last week.

Philip Wheeler, as usual, whiffed on a couple of tackles, and committed a third-down penalty that would have given the Cowboys a first down if Dallas hadn’t already converted it. But he did have a tackle for loss. Weeeee! But Dannell Ellerbe played well, which was encouraging.

Has Arthur Lynch even had any catches this preseason? I know he's been sidelined, but has he even seen the field?

Wheeler did have a nice play rushing the passer and beating the block to force Romo. It was Wheeler who made the play of the game vs. Luck at the end of that game. This is what Wheeler is good for. A rush package.

I don't think so, but I think that he'll make the team and fit in just fine- solid blocker and the guy can catch, has some speed and athletic ability, but he's not a true seam buster. If there was more to it than that Egnew would still be on the team, a player who could block and had the speed but never put it together.

I'd like to see Clay, Sims, Lynch and Hoskins all on the final 53, I don't see Hoskins or Lynch not getting poached if we try to stash them on the PS. As to the RB's, I'd rather see Damien Williams or Orleans Darkwa on the roster rather than Daniel Thomas, and maybe both stick and Gillislee gets cut. My guess is that Williams sticks and Darkwa goes on the PS, but i'd like to see Darkwa stick around- he runs hard and efficient, just a good RB who plays with high energy. He makes some nice cuts, too, has some moves. I just get a better feel with him out there as opposed to Thomas, and Thomas simply isn't needed as a big back anymore, Damien Williams is a better power RB.

The Dallas offense did nothing until they put Wheeler and Ellerbee on the field together. I thought when Trusnik and Tripp played in the middle the defense played really well.

How the coaching staff continues to play Wheeler and Ellerbee together is as baffling as Dallas Thomas getting snaps with the 1s.

Maybe if Dallas Thomas has a role on this team it will be as a backup LT, especially since Jason Fox seems to be flaming out. Then again, maybe Billy Turner will get some reps at LT since Shelley Smith will probably be starting at RG. At this point Thomas is a waste of a roster spot at OG, just plain awful- what he does have are movement skills and experience playing OT in college.

I think you'll see Thomas moved to the practice squad to give him another year to get stronger.

I watched the Dolphins against Dallas last year, and Dallas Thomas looked just as putrid playing left tackle against the backup Dallas Cowboy DL. He could not even compete, getting his @ss pushed around every play. AGAINST THE BACKUPS TO ONE OF THE WORST D's in the league. Kid just can't play. NEXT!

I think it will take slightly longer than a year. I give it 3 generations.

I've been saying that he can't play from day 1. What I'm saying is that if he is to make the roster, and if he does it's only because our OL depth is that bad, then maybe look at him as a backup LT. We should have drafted Trai Turner and had Billy Turner getting some experience at OT where he belongs imo. We would have been far better off in that scenario.

1. "if Rishard Matthews isn't traded". Man I hope that's not based on a source. Jackson rarely makes stuff up but I hope that's just wild speculation. Matthews is not someone we should be trying to trade.

2. I'd go ahead and release Dallas Thomas. Sure let him get some run on the PS. But if they don't bite as pups... No way we should cut Brenner for Thomas.

3. I'd keep Gator Hoskins. Lynch can go PS. I'd be a bit concerned about blocking in the unit but may as well be realistic with where the talent lies.

4. There may be a rb cut somewhere else that could make it here. Thomas and Gillislee need to go. Darkwa seems like PS material but I'd not be opposed to putting him on the 53 as the corps is presently constituted. Damien Wiliams is just ok. I think fans are desperate for a spark so they see more than there really is with him. Moreno clarified what a back should look like and the upgrade over the likes of Damien was considerable.

I was going to post that as well......

For all the flak he catches...he did have an awesome pressure last night.

I would rather cut both fox and Dallas Thomas and sign a cut G and T.
Nether of them are good enough to play let alone start.
Lets check out some different players.

One play to support his signing and salary? He needs to be cut or sat down. Play Trip or McCain. They are the immediate future.
