Isn't he 1/2 an inch smaller then Brees? I agree its harder for smaller QB's but if he knows how to find the passing lanes he might be worth a look. I don't know much about him as I am not and Meyer fan and ignored all their games... oops. I have seen some highlight reels he does have good movement...

I would emphatically say just the opposite...and I am a Gator fan. Leak will never make it in the NFL. His physical talents are very marginal and he has never shown consistancy. Smith, however, reminds me a lot of Drew Brees. He's a smart kid and has a great work ethic. A good qb coach could really do something with him.

Id rather take Smith than Stanton. Hes accomplished alot more tbh, and is better athletically. But oh noes hes short, send him to the canadian league!!

Actually, Chris Leak is the one who reminds me of Drew Brees. Both have marginal arm strength, and brought into the right system can excel. I'm a 'Nole fan, but I wouldn't be opposed to drafting Chris Leak in the later rounds. He is probably one of the smartest QB's in this draft.

Leak has always been extremely inconsistant though. He will go for whole halfs where his decision making process bogs totally down. In that aspecct I actually see him as closer to Joey Harrington. It has never improved either. Most Gator fans were ecstatic because the only complete game he ever put together just happened to be his last and most important. I really actually think the Harrington comparison is accurate in these terms because he could tease you for a while with good play, but sooner or later he would throw an interception that would make you cringe and wonder why he ever even attempted the pass.

I think Troy Smith suffers from the trend it seems most fans have of judging players off of "what happened in your last game?" Florida absolutely DOMINATED Ohio State in the trenches. Most qbs look silly when they have DEs knocking them around like bumper cars. Smith is not a Vick/Young clone. He only runs to escape pressure and give himself time to pass. He is smart and a very hard worker. His arm strength is better than Leak's and were it not for his height/delivery there really wouldn't be many questions on him. He will represent incredible value when he gets picked in the middle rounds.

I find that odd.
Smith definately has more intangibles for success at the next level. I haven't ever been impressed watching Leak play, not once.

Having said that, on personal preference, I'd be upset if we drafted either one of them. Don't hold much hope that either one will make an NFL starting QB.

I'd stay far away from both those guys. They are too small for the position. I would take Stanton over those 2 without a doubt. We'll most likely have no shot at Stanton. I'm a big Florida fan. I like Chris Leak as a college player, and that's about it.

You must not have watched Stanton play. Anybody can throw the pall with no pressure or pads. In game situations, he was not very good. Its great to perform at a combine but that doesn't translate to real world success, game tape is a better indicator of that and his is nothing special.
