I was watching Sportsnite last night and the four host of the show were talking about their picks of who are going to be steals of this year's draft. One of the host said that Jason Allen was going to be a steal. He called him a "typical Saban player" said that Between Nick Saban and Dom Capers they are going to line him up everywhere on the field to make plays. Thoughts?
 
I think I'd like to see him sign a contract and play a little before I annoint him the 'steal' of anything. That said, his performance at the combine suggests he has the physical tools to be a phenomenal player with great versatility. Let's just hope the contract can be settled sooner than later.
 
I think ol' bum hip Ronnie Brown hitting dummy needs to get in camp.

Not if he costs us a couple of games at the start of the year. What did he do to warrant such praise anyway? I never heard anything special about him at Tennesse and he was injured seriously his last year and when we drafted him I was like who is that? I am all over college football and that is bad when I don't know a player. Then the only highlight reels I see is Ronnie using him for a speed bump is saying it nicely. Maybe he is scared of him is why he won't sign. Maybe our front office sucks but he needs to drag or wabble "depending on the hip" into camp.

So what did he do?
 
Saban is a defensive backs coach. That's his specialty. I think he picked the guy where he did because he thought he could be special. He seems to have a repoire with him as well. I'd think that Allen's second year would be the one where they start thrusting extra responsibilites on him. I hope he gets into camp, so he can start.

I went to the University of Tennessee. This guy is lights out on the field. He was a top 10 pick last year till he hurt his hip and hes fine now. You know nothing about Allen so don't talk crap if you nothing about him. The guy was the top safety in this years draft hands down.
 
I'm ignorant on this guy. Can some of you please respond to post#5 and answer my questions or shine some light on him. Was he an all American ? Did he set some kind of record? Why wasn't he mentioned before we drafted him on any draft shows? Help me I'm just an ignorant person that needs knowledge on why you people think I will be praiseing him. I really want to but he has to be on the feaild and getting reported on don't he?

I believe he was a preseason all-america pick. Also, he was highly recruited by all SEC teams. I believe he eventually chose Tennessee over LSU while Saban was there.
