As we all know, pennington was blamed for not being able to spread defenses out and teams would just put 8 and 9 in the box and the dolphins offense had no answer.

But looking now, with henne at QB, defenses are still stacking the box, and we all know henne has a bigger arm then pennington.

So i think it doesnt matter who the QB is, defense just arent scared of the recievers. defenses can play man to man on the dolphin recievers and have nothing to worry about. So dont blame either QB's for not being able to spread defenses out because it is the recievers fault. And probably the play calling but can really blame the play calling because Henning knows that our TE's give just as big of a threat at the reciever position as our wide recievers do.

In conclusion, GET A RECIEVER!

They are not stacking as much with Henne as with Penny, and the CB's aren't looking in the backfield as much. Henne has made throws that Pennington quite simply can not.The first Jets game on the final drive and the out pattern on the final drive of the Bucs game on the out pattern with the defender right on him come to mind. It is all speculation, but noway I think we go 5-2 in our last 7 games with Pennington. I still have a lot of respect for him and what he did for this team and Henne in particular.

Defenses aren't scared of our receivers? This is just amazing insight never before posted on this board or any board for that matter. You sir, are an amazing asset to this community.

well stupid people blame stacking the box solely on the QB.

Oh and talk about me not being an asset, you have 38 posts! Dont bring that s*** around here when you barely add any of your own insight to the board.

Yay, another "we need a wr" thread. Thanks for the late breaking news. Sorry to break it to you, but we are not getting a new WR this year. Period.

And you don't think our 4th ranked running game has anything to do with defenses stacking the box? :ponder:

I'm afraid of our recievers !!!

Not So Fast!!!!

OUR WR DID A GOOD JOB AS A WHOLE LAST WEEK, GOTTA GIVEM CREDIT. FOOTBALL NO MATTER WHAT GROUP WE ARE TALKING ABOUT, THEY MUST BE COHESIVE AND I THINK THIS GROUP IS STARTING TO PEAK TO BE HONEST. THEY FINALLY START GOING FOUR AND FIVE WIDE SPREADING THE FIELD AND IT PAID OFF,.WE MAY NOT HAVE A COMMANDING NUMBER ONE BUT WE DAMN SHOLE GOT SOME WIDEOUTS WHO CAN WIN MAN TO MAN AGAINST 3RD AND 4TH STRING CORNERS:lol2::woot::hitit::thanks:

who was 3rd 4th string? Carolina has a very good pass D

Actually carolina didnt stack the box nearly as much. They played a lot of 2 deep safety coverage. We are getting a little more respect in our passing game.

Any "stacking the box" against Henne right now has more to do with the fact that he is basically a rookie and defenses are testing him to see whether or not he can handle the pressure and produce in the passing game. If he can, they will back off...if not...the blitzing will just get worse. So far, I think the jury is still out on him. He has shown good signs...but isn't exactly lighting it up either.

They'll stop stacking once they don't have to cover 1 on 1 anymore. I wouldn't be suprised if half the sacks Henne has is contributed to no WR getting open. When I was listening to the Carolina game they had mentioned this. They don't fear Ginn because they know even if he is open he's not catching it.

If you want to spread defenses out, you have to prove that 53 yard TD strikes aren't a fluke. At the moment, it looks like it was.

It's not just the QB and it's not just the receivers.

FACT: Henne could make defenses spread out with his arm.

FACT: While our receivers aren't the best in the world, they could still contribute to an offense where the ball regularly travels more than 15 yards in the air.

FACT: Henne is a first year starter, and is starting a little bit earlier than the coaching staff expected.

OPINION: The coaching staff doesn't trust Henne enough YET to sling the ball and really make defenses respect our passing game. They want him making safe passes to build his confidence while he learns to read NFL defenses. You don't have to look far to see a perfect [dirty] example of allowing a young QB to sling the ball - he comes crashing down to earth and loses games for his team. I'm pretty sure most here would trade our entire receiving corps (ok, maybe minus Bess) for Cotch and Edwards.

I disagree with your conclusion. The game has been moving too fast for Henne. Sometimes this phrase is used incorrectly, John Beck did not have composure, yet many people said the game was moving too fast. No, he was prone to panic. Henne is very composed, but he still does not see the whole field. He still does not recognize blitzes from formation. I do not expect him to with so few NFL starts, but this is why they stack the box. It is a combination of the skills of our wide receivers and the lack of some mental skills being demonstrated by Henne. This is why Henne is treated similar to how Pennington was treated. Henne is starting to show better recognition. The big conversion to Bess is one example. He kept his down field, side stepped the rush, and saw more of the field. This allowed him to recognize the break by Bess.
