The Milwaukee Bucks agreed to trade Richard Jefferson to the San Antonio Spurs for Bruce Bowen, Kurt Thomas and Fabricio Oberto, a Bucks source told ESPN.com.

The two teams have agreed to the deal in principle. A trade call to make the deal official will happen later Tuesday.

The move gives the Spurs a dynamic wing scorer to play alongside Tim Duncan, Tony Parker and Manu Ginobili. The Spurs had promised to make their team better this summer and adding Jefferson for role players should give them a huge shot in the arm.

Interesting....

I miss Jefferson, he was one of my favorite players and the Nets got rid of him for basically nothing as Yi is not very good.

Spurs window is closed. They're too old and there is too much young talent in the west in their way. I think this was a good trade for them but in the long run i can't see it elevating them past the Lakers.

Bucks got rid of him for basically nothing too :d-day:

Bucks just wanted Cap space as Larry Harris made some bad moves to get them in cap hell/ just weren't good moves (signing Gadzuric and Bobby Simmons to huge deals, drafting Yi when he didn't want to go to the Bucks and wasn't very good anyways, trading Magloire for Steve Blake and some other big Asian dude).

Plus, the Bucks need veteran leaders that will play defense, KT and Bowen give them that.

Im hoping he returns..but his play last yr deteriorated last yr too>but hey hes 38.RC Buford still has a couple of moves to make in the bigs department,I hope they arent ignoring the fact that the Spurs could still use a defensive specialist.

that was true before the trade. getting jefferson was HUGE for san antonio. the only thing that's too old is duncan - and this bought them a little more time. if they can find someone decent to spell and eventually replace duncan (they're out there) san antonio will be right back in the thick of things.

i see the days of western conference domination being over though. the east has the youth and the talent.

Duncan is 32..And yes the ship has sailed and he'll be done in 2012..The addition of Jefferson helps immensely as Manu can be fresher for the playoffs. The Spurs aren't done yet,at least until Pop and Duncan leave.
