Okay, taintriots fans that other shoe you were waiting for has dropped. Specter has just said he plans to have an impartial investigation just like the Mitchell Report. Uh oh.....

U.S. Sen. Arlen Specter said today that an independent investigation is needed of the New England Patriots' practice of spying on their opponents.

"There ought to be an impartial investigation, an outside investigation, like the investigation that baseball had with Senator George Mitchell," Specter said.

Specter said he first became interested in the Patriotgate story in November, when he first heard that the NFL had destroyed the tapes the Patriots turned in to the league. He said the NFL was not responsive to his requests for more information, and he suggested that the league is trying to sweep the issue under the rug.

Good, I think the Pats are getting a pass because Goodell is worried about the leagues image. Find another case or circumstance where destroying evidence is acceptable.

People think goodell's handling of all this is minor, but if Specter causes a big enough stink, the owners will decide goodell will be the fall guy.

No doubt about it. The NFL didn't want a scandal and tried to sweep this thing under the rug. Goodell has to be sweating bullets now.

This is great news!

I forgot what could happen to the Ratriots if there turns out to be a congressional hearing and the Ratriots are found guilty... Is this some kind of antitrust violation? Its been so long I forgot

Anyone care to guess what the Pat fans response to this situation is? I'll give you three guesses and the first two don't count.:rolleyes2:

How about the information about Matt Walsh watching the Rams walk through then telling the Pats secondary coach everything he saw? That was never reported before. We also didn't hear one word about that from Goodells mouth instead Goodell tells everyone he learned nothing new. Every time something new comes out it's something we've not heard before. How much is enough??

I still can't believe many of you thought Walsh was bargaining all this time for scalping a few tickets.

Goodell's pc was classic "sweep this under the rug".

"Nothing to see here, move along".

And the Patriots have acted almost in concert saying "it's done and over, we're not addressing this anymore".

I would not be surprised if an independent investigation brings out elements of collusion between Goodell and the Patriots.

This story will taint the NFL much like steroids has tainted MLB.

This is far from over.
