The one that sticks out in my mind is when Greg Lloyd nailed Marino, sending him to the ground, and Marino (rolled over,) grabbed him by the jersey and started laying into him verbally while he was flat on his back. Wouldn't let Lloyd walk away! It was bitter sweet. I can only imagine how many fin fans were screaming at Lloyd through the TV with Danny boy....

I remember that Monday night game, yeah Marino was a warrior that game, but we still lost. I`ve got two Steeler/Dolphin games that stand out for me, first one was the `72 AFC Championship game when Shula pulled Earl Morrall in favor of Bob Griese who had been injured since Week 5, and Griese rallied us to a win. Second game was in like `78 or `79 and we went into Three Rivers for a Divisional playoff game and got pounded as the Steelers went to yet another SB.
I hope tomorrow nights will be my most memorable though, as we kick their a**!

Mine was when we had to go into Pittsburgh during the '72 Perfect Season...we had to play the AFC Championship game in Pittsburgh even though we were unbeaten....the Phins did not have home field advantage because home field was not decided by best record like it is today...so nobody tell me Miami wasn't the greatest dynasty ever after doing this. We took care of the Steelers 21-17 and then beat the Skins in the SB.

early 90's i believe and i was a kid. not sure what year it was but it was pouring at joe robbie. my dad brought me some nachos and by the end of the game, the dolphins had won and my nachos were floating in their box.

To be honest, I don't even remember the score....I just have the image of Marino latched onto Lloyd's jersey, pulling him towards to ground burned into my head.

Yeah we won it:

FOOTBALL; Don Shula Has Knee Surgery

Published: September 20, 1995
Don Shula underwent successful arthroscopic surgery today on his right knee to repair torn cartilage.
The Dolphins had the day off after their 23-10 victory Monday night over Pittsburgh. Shula recuperated at home after surgery and was expected back at practice Wednesday. The procedure was the second in less than a year for the 65-year-old Shula, who had surgery to repair a ruptured right Achilles' tendon last December. Shula hurt his knee about a year ago, Assistant Coach Monte Clark said, and the pain had worsened recently.
Meanwhile, Dan Marino said he felt fine after he suffered a bruised chest Monday night when tackled from behind by linebacker Greg Lloyd, who had warned that the hit was coming. "I'm going to be O.K.," said Marino, who watched the end of the game in uniform from the sideline. "I could have gone back in if I had to.
Lloyd had pledged that he would try to knock Marino "into next week," and his chance came late in the third period, when he caught the 34-year-old quarterback and drove him into the infield dirt face first. No penalty was called.

1984 AFC Championship game when Knoll walked up to Shula afterwards and said "Wow". Not sure what happened in the next game....

Good job Roman, I was searching to find the result too, I stand corrected. I remember we lost one to Pitt a year or two before that `95 game, McDuffie was a rookie and he ran a punt back for a TD.
How the hell could I forget the `84 AFC Championship game?! After we put up those 45 pts on Pitt, I thought the SB was going to be easy!

Yep 84 championship game for me. Great game by Marino and the wrs. Our defense was being trampled on by a not a great offense by no means. We had to hold on by outscoring them. The game that Marion gave a verbal spanking to LLoyd I think, if memorys serves correct, was in '95 and yeah we won.

A bad memory that sticks out is '93. Lost them on MNF after a two TD lead. Perfect example of the lunacy and futility of a Olivadotti defense! Got a handful abuse from a co-worker Steeler fan at work the next day. The playoff game we lost them in late 70's was in '78; a stop on the Steelers eventual SB win in SB XIII over the Pokes. Sick, sick game as we lost, if memory serves correct, like 30-6 or something similar to that. Barely remember it as I was kid but remember it bumming me out on a Sunday in a bad way.

We Won that Game. I drove all the way from Virginia with my father and 2 other guys, one a Dolphin Fan, one a Big Mouth Steeler Fan to see that game. Man his ride home really sucked. I rember that hit Lloyd put on Dan, the whole Stadium went silent. This was also Shula and Marino's last Monday Night win together. I have that game on Tape somewhere in my pile of old tapes. I will post the score as soon as i find the tape.

The slant pass from Griese to Warfield early in the 3rd quarter of the '72 game. That was an uneasy feeling going up there after Morrall and the offense played so poorly in the Cleveland game a week earlier, and again in the first half against the Steelers. We had no idea if Griese was ready but as soon as he hit Warfield with the quick slant for maybe 45 or 50 yards I relaxed and was convinced we would pull it out.

I don't think anyone mentioned the '73 game, the one we led 30-3 at haftime on Monday night before holding on 30-26. That was the intentional safety, which stunned everyone. Also one of the great single game efforts in Dolphin history, by Dick Anderson.

On edit: whoops, dan lake worth posted about that just as I was posting myself.

Can't remember '73 game ( I was 3 at that time!) but saw the replays on NFL films and such. Also, ABC highlighted that game on their flashback to all time great performances on MNF during their 20th anniversary salute during the '90 season. If I am not mistaken it was voted #1 play among four defensive performances they selected for viewers to phone in and vote. Definitely an amazing feat.
