Last year, we did have an easy schedule, and made a bit of luck. We also had new starters for half the positions. Add in the new coaches and system. We did pretty well.

This year, we have a much tougher schedule. However, we are only gonna have 3-4 new starters to go with the same coaches and system. This makes a world of difference. Our players can play, and not think.

I'm not sure that Penny and Porter can duplicate what they did last season but, I do believe that each and every other player will be better.

That means playoffs, and another division title.

Opinions?

I will agree that media does cut us short on making playoffs again. There two main reason being a harder schedule and history of a team having success and almost always the next year falling short. Dolphins will be a better team, but with a harder schedule that is needed. I think our chances are pennies short of Patriots making afc champs. The media has taken a lot to consideration of where they believe dolphins will fall and mostly correct, but there is a lot they have not even looked at. For one i think injury of any starter wont be bad at just about any positions except the anywhere on the o line. In fact i think a injury for the qb position with chad p will do some good and put Chad H in and if he can take the job from that happening then he can become one of the elites. As for other teams injury to any can change the team completely like the Patriots for example. If tom gets hurt again now who would they have? To be completely honest yeah afc east champs is all good, but losing it to ravens and cutting it off really is not the success i would like... i want super bowl and winning and nothing short from that. Take a look at this video it is not the best video ever but i thought it was cool. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tdrFA1oTEgk Enjoy

i think that makes a whole world of difference. to be able to create chemistry will the same teammates you had the previous season makes for a better playing team and each player knows eachother strengths and weaknesses. thats how tandems are created. like the ravens LB's for instance. they all played with eachother and they knew eachother like they knew themselves.

Honestly, I think the key to Miami's season lies with 3 positions....

Left guard, center, and right guard....

The health of those 3 positions could mean the difference between 10 wins or 5 wins IMO...

last year just so happened that theory was wrong as miami won 11 with an injured center and two second string guards. but this year, the dolphins will face really tough d-lines so i agree that our interior line is key.

I agree that injuries will play a huge part as to whether Miami makes it back into the playoffs. But in fairness last season we lost our 2 starting guards and Satele was injured for a large part, yet we still managed a playoff birth.

I would have said that our Tackles would be more vital to our progress rather than the interior of the line.

go take a look at this year's schedule and look at all the NT's that the interior line is going to have to deal with.

jake long is invicible! no way he gets injured!

I think so too.

All of our coaches are back (except O-Line coach)
Same major players (minus Vonnie Holliday although Starks or Merling will step up)
Few guys back from injury (Smiley, Camarillo, Thomas-should be ready for game 1)
Got better at every position with new guys and rooks
Core players have one year of offense and defensive schemes under their belts.

I think we are a lot better off than last year despite the schedule. Sure, it will be tough but I think we can do close to what we did last year. I think we will be hard to beat.

I agree with that.....if Miami loses either one of the tackles it's probably a disaster...

What I should have said was that those 3 positions are more of a concern to me....as far as being able to stay on the field.....the interior of the offensive line is a very expensive M*A*S*H unit......the tackles have proven durable....

However, as previously pointed out, Miami is going to face better defensive lines much more frequently than they did last year....if these 3 guys don't shake this injury history.....I think it's potentially disasterous for Miami's season....

Not too much different to last year being honest. Last season we went up against Wilfork twice, Jenkins twice, Stroud twice, Ngata twice and Jamal Williams.

Its pretty similar to what we will face this season and because we do not face the Steelers till week 17, I dont think Hampton will be playing as I would expect the Steelers to have reached the playoffs by that stage.

Let's not forget Ronnie, who was not the same player from 07, is BACK. That old Brady Bashing, game changer is BACK. The "shot yardage maven" will surprise.

And "The Wizard" (aka Henning) has a year to come up with more potions, notions, and magic. Imagine, if you will, being the Atlanta DC. You see a lot of different stuff on tape which was done during the season. Then you realize that there is the Wild Cat, the Wild Pat (spread O), Ginn can throw, and Wilford, a WR, could be a TE, and you're gonna be the first one to see all this. LUCKY YOU!

Grove, Thomas or Murphy, in addition to Polite will make a difference.

No doubt, and with our offensive line being 100% we are going to run the ball a LOT better than last season. I can't wait.

Based on what happened too the Browns and Saints, I'm trying to keep a realistic expectations. With that being said I can see a playoff run. Our young players have more experience, we have upgrades at certain positions and our players have more experience under the new system.
