The defensive line, which averages nearly 33 years of age, is expected to remain the team's strength. But the aging players are causing Miami to rethink.

The epicenter of the Dolphins franchise is feeling convulsions now, if not an outright violent quake.
The defensive line that comprises some of the team's most respected leaders, that was arguably Miami's greatest strength last season and is expected to be that again this year, in short the roster's most stable unit, is being shaken.

There is talk that considerable experience might be evolving into old age. Some players are concerned about their futures in Miami while others are being offered up in trade. New players are trying to adjust to an unfamiliar system.
Oh, and on national television tonight, the Miami defensive line that
fancies itself one of the best in the league will probably be compared to its Carolina counterpart that has a similar opinion of itself.

IMO the article contradicts itself, first they say how the DL is too old and is in decline, then last paragraph they talk about the new young talent in Fred Evans and Matt Roth. Slow sports newsday, writers have nothing worth writing about so they make up this crap. Our DL will dominate even more this year than last, and Saban has a nice mix of youngsters lined up to infuse youth.

I'm beyond getting tired of hearing about how old everyone is on our defense. Our secondary got younger and the DL is next. It takes time. I mean we drafted 2 DTs, have Crowder, Daniels and Roth. The guys who we brought in with the secondary dropped the defense's age a few years.

It just gets annoying to always be reminded of it. People age, thats life!

You can't get young overnight

That stuff is starting to pis me off. For a group of guys that are old, how come they were so effective last year?

The only one that is really ole is Traylor. And he will not be overused. Jeff is older as well, but he is a role player.

I can see other writers from out of town who dont take a close look but a guy in Miami writing this is stupid.

Carter, who is 33, did he show any signs of getting old. Not at all. And dont even tell me that Taylor has slowed down.

And if the Bucs game was any indication, Big Daddy still got it.

Bunch of idiots

Wasn't the New England defense kind of "old" when they won 3 superbowls?

Heck, they're still older than us.

nah i rekon our defensive line on a whole is up there with the best of the league we have outstanding depth and really good starters. thats one area i feel we really dont have to lose to much sleep over this season. i would rather see us play a 4-3 though as i think our defensive line corp is much better than that of our linebackers with no positional uncertainties or bellow par starters

Suprise suprise, its from Armando Salguero. He has always been pessimitic but I've never seen him contradict himself in an article.
