The DL has been wreaking havoc on the OL so far. They may be the best DL in the NFL, and in no way do I diminish what they are doing.

However, with as good as they are, they do have other advantages.

No one on this OL has basically ever played together at their positions aside from James and Dallas for 6 games. Sounds like last year.

The D is throwing 10-15 blitz packages at the OL, as well as a number of stunts (as per Turner).

The D knows when the O is passing.

The depth on the DL is better than at any position I can remember.

Just a little food for thought.

The deck is stacked anyway against the oline because we have a lack of talent at guard

We spent ten million plus dollars on one the better left tackles in the game. We spent a number one draft pick and resigned him for ten million per year on a pro-bowl center. We spent a number one pick on a right tackle. We spent two third round picks and one forth rounder on guards that fit our scheme. We, by all rights, should have one of the better offensive lines in the league at this point with as much as the team has invested. Signing another big money guard just sounds like madness, but it seems we might have no alternative. Here's to hoping the light goes on for some of our youngsters, and quickly.

Dave Hyde's thoughts on why the hesitation on Mathis etc..

First of all, just because they haven’t doesn’t mean they won’t. But you have to think like a general manager to see the hesitation. First, guard isn’t a position to sink big resources into, especially in the Dolphins offense, which asks for athletic guards rather than the pile-drivers that usually are the first-round picks. Beyond that, the Dolphins have taken guards with two, third-round picks recently. They talk a lot about developing players. This would be the perfect spot for some of that. Another concern: The coming salary cap. The Dolphins have $24 million due Ndamukong Suh next year. They also have some big free-agent decisions, notably Olivier Vernon and Lamar Miller. They'll surely need a cornerback (Brent Grimes will be 33) among other big-money positions. How would sinking $5-7 million into Mathis affect all that? So that’s the reason for the hesitation. Whether that means they’re comfortable enough with their guards – Billy Turner, Dallas Thomas and Jamil Douglas – to watch Mathis be signed by another team will be the next question.

I could care less about next year...we can ask Suh to restructure and find creative ways to stay within the cap, just like the Patriots do every year. I don't want to see Tannehill getting sacked 70+ times and have to run for his life all the time. I would let Mathis' agent know that we are very interested and make him a fair offer, but tell him we need an answer in the next two weeks.

* Per Mike Florio: Florio speculated that the salary in 2016 could be reduced to $1 million with the rest being converted to a bonus. If that were to happen, Suh's cap hit would drop from $28.6 million to $10.6 million. The downside is that the difference would then be spread out over the 2017-20 seasons and the Dolphins would be facing another terrible situation in 2018 and 2019.

Wasn't the line doing reasonably well last year before Albert got hurt; and that was with Pouncey out and having a rookie right tackle? If anything, provided Albert comes back healthy, we should be in better shape this year.

Guys are getting crushed on the OL in the one on one drills!

We BLEW IT!!!

What is wrong with this organization?

They did so many things fantastically in the offseason and intransigently refused to take the OL woes seriously!

Incognito, La'el Collins, Evan Mathis, lack of draft choices.

This sucks and I'm pissed as hell about it!

Now is where Benton earns his money. He is uniquely qualified to watch the tape and say whether the fundamentals are there and it's a beast of a D, or whether we have one month to suddenly find two guards who know what they're doing. I'm not optimistic, but it is what it is

I doubt Suh restructures his contract going into his 2nd season with us.

The season hasn't started yet bedwetter. Incognito is garbage and Evan Mathis hasn't signed with anyone yet.

The Patriots don't get creative. They simply get their superstar QB to play for Andy Dalton money. My personal belief is that Gisele is a Patriots employee doing undercover work, probably trained in Russia by Putin's elite forces -which explains why Putin took Kraft's ring, probably angry due to some obscure deal gone bad between them.

Also, I do care about next year. And the next. And the next. Please never believe/do anything Florio says. Other than report news -his only real skill- the guy would stand on his head to get a few more hits. His suggestion is my worst nightmare in the Suh situation.
