The canopy looks a little awkward from the outside but amazingly looks like it belongs to the stadium when inside. It definitely will have an effect as the sound echos quite well. There were only a handful of people but it sounded much more than that. To capacity this stadium will be extremely loud. The new lighting system is awesome and if you have attended a few night games before you will see the difference immediately. They are also not as blinding as the old lights though much more powerful.

The 4 HD screens are massive, absolutely gigantic. And they are definitely HD; and when I say HD I mean it. It is fascinating how far technology has come. I remember when in 2008 our old scoreboards were introduced and we all stood at that special event with our jaws dropped. But man, these scoreboards - incredible.

Some work still has to be done but it is more cosmetic. This stadium would be top notch if not for -

- the food:
Usually it does not affect me as I am usually tailgating. Though preseason it is more relaxing and I usually test food venues. Last year I tested the Sloppy Joe's Key West style which was good and the Gyro sandwich which was excellent as well. This year I tried the BBQ Burger from Shula's Burger. Don't be fooled by the name, it was awful. $10 for a burger which I would rank well below McDonald's or any other fast food burger. Stay away!!!!

- the food venue employees: I am not sure if the Dolphins still use that Boston catering company but they have to do something about that. The excuse it is just pre-season does not count. These venues are a problem for years. Slow and incompetent service. Register not properly working. CC or App wallet scanner not working. Like I said it won't affect me but I do feel sorry for fans who are relying on that non-service especially if you make it down here from out of town. It will leave a bad taste.
The best I can recommend is come on over to our FH tailgate and you get the best food, freshly grilled and an ice cold beer (and yeah, some Swedish or Finish or Danish shot or whatever that is Henrik 'makes' you drink ). If you feel like donating a few bucks as a thank you I will have a little FH donation bucket for Hendrik. But no force, all voluntary, no set price and you are among your fellow Dolfans (and the DJ will be there as well - I checked).

- the app:
So the Dolphins went all digital for season ticket holders. Great idea if it works. Bad idea when you are standing at the entrance and you get the message "Sorry our servers got sacked. Please try again later." :bobdole: Server overload with 10 fans? Really? I was ready to throw the phone at the poor guy.
The work around: put a screenshot of your ticket on your phone. It does work.

The Wallet was useless. I put money on it because I knew I would be eating in the stadium. But none of the registers worked for the app. If you want to use the "Wallet" just bring some cash, just in case. But maybe they work that problem out. They still got 3 weeks.

Overall, you will not recognize the stadium and is - for football - an absolute delight. It definitely will be a few decibels higher and hopefully we will have a competitive product on the field as well.

The negatives are **** I don't care about so if I can come down for a game it sounds like it will be a great time.

I agree. The negatives are minor and definitely will not interfere with a football experience. But there are families going to the game and when the kids are hungry be prepared to miss some of the game.
I haven't looked at the Plaza at Gate S (formerly known as G) but they used to have some kickass food. I would prefer that over the in-stadium experience.

Is it louder than before?

It was only 1/4 full so it is hard to run a comparison. But the few who were there seemed louder. The noise bounces back quite well. We were always loud when the Dolphins had meaningful games and a product on the field which mattered. It may not have come through on the TV sets but we are not quite people.
By the experience today a full house or near capacity will definitely rival the loudest stadiums in the NFL.

Akvavit? Love that stuff. Have a couple of Norwegian bottles. Looking forward to my next trip to Sweden to grab some there.

Wow, thanks for the writeup. I have never been to a home game before, but been the 5 away (1 n kc, 1 st louis, 2 Tennessee, and 1 in indy) and indy was the only one I thought was awesome. Love to see how our upgrade compares

Thanks for the report! I don't know if I'll ever get to visit for a home game, but I'm excited about two main things from afar: 1. The fans won't be melting. 2. The fans will be louder because a) they are not melting and b) stadium will echo better.

You sat near Le Batard?

Did they add any more monitors to the concession areas? restrooms?

To the concessions yes. On the 300 level where the beer stands are it looks like a sports bar. I'll take a pic at the home opener.

Aquavit?

If anyone wants a decent burger in the stadium try BurgerFi. Bru's, although I have not had it, looked as if the quality of their food was a notch above many of the other vendors as well.
