In your opinon does Randy Starks and Justin Smiley have the potential to be solid starters for our team for years to come?

In my opinion they will be starters and a big force under our regime.

smiley yes starks no, my boy is a die hard titan fan and since his rookie year all their message boards (and him) can say is starks doesnt play hard so im not counting on him

I think Justin Smiley is decent.

i dunno about that...if u go watch the video of Jake Long negotiations on ESPN,they said Justin is one of the better RG's in the league, and he was part of the reason for Frank Gores tremendous 1500+ season...but i guess everyone has their own thought, and i cant change that....go phins!

smiley will be good. i live in the Sf area and everyone noticed the difference in the running game with gore when he was there and when he wasnt. Starks has the ability to play good when he wants too.. I would imagine that with the money we gave him he assured someone he will play hard..

I think that both are exactly the types that coaches love to get their hands on... young with lots of experience... I like that combination...

Are you talking about football players or women?

I went to the most popular 49ers board after we signed him and the consensus was half and half.

Some niner fans didn't mind seeing him go and thought he wasn't worth the money. And the other half thought they should have kept him.
I went to a few also and I found that the majority of 9er fans really liked Smiley. The thing was they thougt that the guy that filled in for him done a good enough job and thats where the debate between their fans came in. The majority said that Smiley was the best pulling Guard in the league and their drop off in rushing production was due to his injury. Who really knows thoough? We have the chance to find out for ourselves.

Smiley can easily be a pro bowler, Starks I dunno much about but it seems he will need to be "coached up" often.

Smiley, I definitely think will be a solid starter. It will help that he will likely be lined up in between Samson Satele, and Vernon Carey/Jake Long. Smiley was a solid starter, not elite, in San Francisco, and now has some of the best minds helping him out. I can't say he is a Pro Bowl guard, but he at the very least will make us forget about Rex Hadnot.

Randy Starks I think will have more success here then he did with Tennessee, but whether or not he can be a solid starter, will have to wait and see. It appears to me that this regime wants him to win the job as a 3-4 DE. Right now Matt Roth and Vonnie Holliday are the ends, but I think Starks will push Holliday in camp. The nice thing about Starks though is that he is entering his 5th year in the league and he is ONLY 24 years old. The guy still has a lot left in playing years, and he also has a lot of potential. I think he very well could become a solid starter in this league.

From what I've read Starks sounds like a Shaun Rodgers type guy. Great buid, no heart.
