Starting a Thread

Suggestion:

When someone creates a thread, after they hit submit, they are prompted with a caution window. The window will say things like:


1. Is this in the correct Forum
2. Is there a previous thread about this

Then they can hit submit after they read these questions..


This is crazy idea but:

If you want to go further, put a counter on threads started by users and each time they violate these questions, they are added up. Once they reach a certain number, they get time off.

50 posts before your first thread...just like PM's...and i agree with you on keeping track...

wouldn't work. People aren't going to go through the whole process of writing a post, pasting a link etc... and then backtrack to make sure no one had already posted it. In fact all we would be doing is punishing the posters who do look to make sure it wasn't already posted by making them take a few more seconds to click the yes answers.
