I know ellerbe and misi are fine and are solid starters. Phillip wheeler however did not seem to produce. LB seems to be one of the only positions we did not upgrade. This is sketchy to me are defense is solid but wheeler scares me. Im curious if they are just hoping wheeler improves or if we have one more trick up are sleeves. Maybe a sleeper draft pick starts or deon jordan maybe. Im not sure but it is a little concerning. #finsup

Right now your starters are Misi, Ellerbe and Wheeler and I think those guys will be the starters come opening game. I really like the Jordan Tripp pick and if Wheeler struggle like he did last year, I could see him and Jelani Jenkins pushing him for time and eventually overtaking him. He's going to have to bring a better game than he did last season.

Like stated above I could see Tripp and Jenkins pushing Wheeler. Jenkins had some flashes in his limited playing time last year and showed promise. And Tripp probably would have been drafted higher had he not been from a small school. That's what the best part of the off season is. We get to see whats what and who's who. I can't wait.

Same guys as last year to start. Jenkins will push Wheeler.

I think the coaches are fed up with wheeler after last season. He will be in an open competition with jenkins and tripp. Better bring your A game

WLB MLB SLB
Wheeler Ellerbee Misi
Jenkins Freeney Trip

Same as last year with Jenkins and Trip pushing Wheeler. Even if they arent spectacular Defence was not the problem last year.

We currently have no capable ILB other than Tripp. I hope we can sign a FA.
Ellerbee - Tripp - Misi
Jenkins - Freeney - Wheeler

Well we let Buffalo's 3rd string QB beat us twice and also Geno Friggin Smith beat us.... I think the defense and the running game mostly was mediocre at best.

Tripp plays everywhere and has incredible recognition skills. Reminds me little of another fifth rounder MIA drafted some years ago to play MLB.

I still don't get this coaching staff. I think Dion Jordan could be a terror at WLB. He has better coverage skills than Wheeler, and he has better rush skills than Wheeler. It's the BEST way to get him on the field full time. It's time to take Ireland's error and put him in a position to succeed.

I can't help but wonder if maybe... just maybe the coaching staff has a plan for Vernon and Dion Jordan... to get them both on the field

second string actually and tell me in those three games how many combined points on Offence did we have? 28 and 21 were in one game including pick 6 going the other way and a sack fumble to seal the game. Those were not defensive loses. only 1 team scored more than 28 points on our D and that was the saints in a primetime game in the superdome.

Sorry, but everybody likes to compare white linebackers to zach thomas. There is little or no comparison there.

He does seem to be around the ball not too fast, has some pop can put some pressure on the qb seems to hold his ground for the most part. He also seems good to prevent big plays on the defense.

Ellerbee - Tripp - Misi
Jenkins - Freeney - Wheeler

Tripp actually played OLB at Montana. However, he is very athletic and has great instincts and could possibly play in the mike.
I expect that we got him to replace either Trusnik or Spitler on special teams, for starters. (He's good at forcing fumbles). He can also be a long snapper but I don't know how good he is at that.
Tripp could be good but the talk about him replacing Wheeler seems pretty premature, considering that would be a new position.
