who would you start up front this weekend?

i believe we have 3 liabilities on the line in this order

#1 LT
#2 RG
#3 C

my line would look like this:
LT McIntosh
LG James
C St. Claire
RG Hadnot
RT Carey

or this

LT McIntosh
LG James
C McKinney
RG Carey
RT St. Claire

McKinney is athletic but i just don' think he is physical enough to hold down the center position. although st. claire can play center, moving him there would leave the right side of our line with zero experience as we would be starting 2 rookies. however, can it get any worse than it was on sunday night?

For me I would take your second choice, except move St.Claire to RG and Carey to RT. Not for performance NOW but for learning for the future. I think Carey can eventualy do well at RT if given the reps.

If we are trying to be even somewhat competitive this year then I can see your second option... except I would replace Carey at RG with Hadnot.

Come to think of it that first option doesn't look too bad either. Except I would move Hadnot to center and St. Claire to RG. in that instance. The only reason being... I think McKinney should be in there if he can learn to call the blocking assignments to the rest of the offensive line at the time of lining up. But if "Wise" can't teach him to do it then I think Hadnot should get the chance there.

If Hadnot can't do it, then we know for sure that Wise needs to find a new job.

Just my humble opinion.

good post dude i like your thinking

i don't know who makes the line calls or adjustments before the snap, but i'm assuming the center, and mckinney has been in our offense the longest and knows the calls. if hadnot can do it i'm all for it. st. claire does have experience at center though having spent time there for the rams. one thing is for sure though, we are running out of time and we need to get our best 5 out there and settled into position so they can start getting time together. there is no excuse going into week 3 and still having this problem. i know d mac has been hurt but the coaching staff has got to do a better job. as for wise, who is considered around the league as a great o line coach, it's easy to coach great players which he has had in the past. this is his first true test and it will be interesting to see how he responds and the players respond to him.

Agreed... we will see this week if anyone on this line responds or respects Wise. Unfortunately I am guesing that they don't respect him or respond, unless a young guy like Carey gets his shot to shine. Not only that, but the images I saw of the offensive line after Randy chewed them out... stunk of disinterrest. Not to mention all Wise could do was look a photographs.

All he realy needed to do was take a look at Wade "Buckweat" Smiths' face and see where the problem was. Okay, that was a cheap shot, but can you blame me?

John St.Clair, (no final 'e') was an All-American C at Virginia, but he never started a game there for the Rams. He was the top center in the 2000 draft and it is a shame that he got drafted by a team that moved him from that spot and retarded his development. He was more highly regarded in 2000, than McKinney was in 2002, though that doesn't really mean much.
Also, the center does not have to be the one who makes the line calls. A guard can do it. I read that last year Kevin Donnalley made the line calls for Carolina while playing RG.
If we're picking out how we would want to see the OL, for me it would be
McIntosh, James, McKinney, Carey, St.Clair, left to right.

I don't know that personel will matter as long as they are (not)trying to execute what passes for a plan from Coach Wise.

I posted this last nite but.

I like seeing the BIG guys in there. How about, in order..........

McIntosh...........James.........Hadnot......St.Claire..........Carey
6'4" 328 .... 6'3" 320 ......6'2" 323 ....6'5" 310 ........6'5" 333

If you are going to let them grow ,, then plant the big ones.

Also, why does McKenney not get called out more

I just think as long as we have Tony Wise trying to coach these guys it won't matter. Guys he ruined a good oline in Chicago and now he does not know how to teach guys.

When he has a line of vets... he is an average coach (at best). However, when he has to try to teach young guys... well we all saw the results on Sunday.

Mci james hagnot stclair carey left to right this is what we should go with!Hagnot is bigger and stronger than Mckinney

I agree 100% Let the big boys play!

I agree, we all know after last year that LT Wade Smith is down right awfull, but I think Seth McKinney is a horrible center too. At RG we look bad also, we need to do something drastic, and if Carrey can't start on this O-Line, the dolphins have mortgaged the future for 2 offensive lineman that suck and picked another two draft picks Whiltey and Seth that can't play in the NFL. We need to find someone that can correctly evaluate Offensive talent like we can on the defensive side of the ball. The fact is, if you were Ricky would you have taken 400 carries behind this offensive line knowing it would shorten your carreer, while you were being paid like a so-so player for a starting RB.

coach wise is to stupid to change anything,he always makes excuses, hes just a yes man anyway.
