Starting O-Line Played into 4th Qtr

Our starting O-Line played into the 4th quarter and couldn't get it done against Tampa's reserves. This bothers me immensely.

These guys are supposed to be the strength of the team. They're supposed to DOMINATE other teams' starting front 7s. They coudn't even succeed against Tampa's 2nd and 3rd string!

Why should I not be freaking out?
 
I think that's the point. An o-line isn't just 5 individuals, but a unit that has to mesh and gel together. I expect this o-line to be very good by week 6 or 7.
 
You can't really think 5 guys that have never played together are going to DOMINATE any other teams front 7s very soon.

Plus we play alot of two TE set's and Martin is not a very good run blocking TE and most of us know our FB Polite isn't a very good lead blocker.
 
Has this line opened up a running lane this entire pre-season? This offense will struggle in third and longs if this unit does not step up. I also think Ronnie needs to start runnning harder and stop all the dancing!
 
Don't you get it? The team sucked on purpose!! It's all part of the master plan!!!!!

agreed... Just a continuation of last year. Oh boy that's not going to cut it against our scheduled opposition.
 
They did play very vanilla on both sides of the ball. I am willing to bet that the coaching staff barely game planned at all for this game, these guys don't want to tip their hand in preseason, it's so obvious.

this year that may be the case. in years past it seems like the line takes half the season to come together. this year im hoping the preseason time helps speed that process up. i do not remember a preseason before where the line has played so much. it would be nice just one year to come into the year with a line that has a year under their belt.
