steal of the draft??huh??........

exactly my thoughts too early to tell, but from what i saw last night...... Kirk Morrison of the Raiders, rookie LB from SDSU looked really solid. A Crowder type of player in my mind.

I hear alot of people talking about Travis Daniels being the steal of the draft. I just dont see it. Lets go back to last years 4th round pick, Will Poole. He was a first round talent that dropped to us in the 4th round. Alot of people had him going in the first round on there pre-draft boards. Now lets look at Travis D. I dont think i anybody had him going higher than the 4th round. He was a 4th round talent that went in the 4th round. The reason why he looked decent in camp is because its the same defense he played in college. If we would have got Corey Webster in the 4th,that would have been a steal. I dont think so. Will Poole's stats were almost identical to Sam Madison stats last year. The biggest difference was the Poole played in about half as many plays as Madison. So lets just stop the Travis Daniels steal of the draft talk. Can we?

Relative to us, we have two steal of the drafts, IMO, Crowder and Daniels. :chuckle:

what if he sucks?
obviously if he sucks, then he wasn't drafted low enough. No, the performace has to match that of a much higher/better player, yet he was drafted much lower.

A steal has to perform.

I don't know about a steal, but for sure solid picks at this point. Steals are guys that have played at least a full season, are a later round picks and end up in the Pro Bowl....ala, Zach Thomas!!!!!

The hilarity is the one-way street. Many posters, here and elsewhere, have absolutely no qualms labeling Poole or Crowder or Daniels or anyone else on their favorite team an alltime heist, as soon as you get a positive report from the first post-draft minicamp. The "will he be rookie of the year?" threads show up almost immediately. But if someone watches a few games and concludes Matt Roth, for example, is hardly a special athlete and will probably never return 2nd round value, he is accosted and told it's heinously unfair to jump to a harsh conclusion like that.

Actually the steal of the draft was Maurice Clarett in the third round to the Bronco's.:rofl3: :rofl3:

So, because Poole was a steal, Daniels wasn't one ?? That doesn't make sense..

Daniels has played better than Madison this preseason and you say that Poole played better than Madison last year also...does that speak of Daniels or of Madison ??

I don't think he is the next coming, but he has been a surprise...and actually, IMHO, if Poole hadn't gotten hurt, he'd be playing FS right now and we would be much better off in the secondary overall...
