"Who" is assuming that the Fins will take a QB in round one or two? Well, I am...and I will tell you why:

- because, although we do have "other needs" as some say, there is no way that BP will not address the most important need VERY early: The QB.

- There is no question that QB is the most important position on the field and is the team leader. You want to fix a franchise, THAT is where you start, PERIOD. Don't gimme that BS about receivers or linemen or DE, yank Brady, Manning or Favre out of their teams and do you think you would place $$$ on them to make consistent Superbowl runs? NO.

God, I hate it every year when some fans want to fix the MOST IMPORTANT position CHEAPLY just because Brady was a "low" draft pick. Good Lord man, step up to the plate and PAY THE PRICE.

Otherwise we will end up like the Phins when we had to wait for over a decade to find a decent running back. Cheap cheap cheap, no wonder we have not managed to find a QB since Marino!!!! Because we have always shied away from picking one early because everyone was so afraid to pick a QB who did not work out.

Grow some cajones and FIX IT.

If it doesnt work, then next year pick again, and keep going 'till WE GET IT RIGHT!

but the problem to your theory is that just cause you pick one early doenst mean he will be sucessful... especially when the difference between many of the QB this year isnt enough to spend the number 1 pick on one... you could get a good QB in the second round.. although i think JOHN BECK is the QB of the future for us!

Maybe stick to cricket. We have an old expression here about putting lipstick on a pig. Drafting a quarterback with the first pick does not make that quarterback better. It will take three years to know, but Colt Brennan has just as much chance of being the star of this class as any other quarterback. Draft position means nothing.

Hey, I hope you are right about Beck. But your "not early" argument is the same one I hear every year, and is exactly the reason we are in this mess.

This could be the year Peyton Manning was drafted and these guys would claim there are better QBs in the later rounds. They fell in love with the idea of being cute with the QB pick and waiting till round 2 last year and even though that blew up in our faces they're still stuck on it.

Probably one of the stupidest things I've heard on this message board. I dont care what QB you have, if he doesnt have any help around him, he's not going to be successful! Instead of thinking about a scenario with no Brady on the Pats, why dont you take his playmakers away and see how successful he would be? The answer is not very. Give Brady or Manning a below average O-Line and well below average receivers and there no better than AVERAGE at best!!!

There is no guarentee that taking a QB at the top of the draft, that he'll be the answer. John Beck played like 4 games last year with a sorry offensive line and no receivers worth a damn. Why not get him some protection and a few weapons and lets see what he can do. Now, if Beck plays this entire coming season and still doesnt show promise, then i agree maybe we would have to look at taking a QB high in the draft next year. But right now theres no point because if we draft Ryan at the top HE WONT FAIR ANY BETTER THEN BECK WOULD!

John Beck needs to be the Dolphins QB for the entire 2008 NFL Season, and then we'll see what we have.

One huge reason we're in this mess, is because we havent had any stability in our organization over the last 5 or 6 years. From Shula, to Jimmie, to Wannstedt, to Saban, to Cameron, to finally a good coach that will be consistant and not bolt and change his mind in a year Tony Sparano!

By your logic that "draft position means nothing", then we should be happy with trading our 2 2nd round picks for 2 5th rounders.

Your argument is juvenile.

And, as for the "stick to cricket" comment, you just made a fool of yourself in front of the entire Forum.

I lived in Miami for over 10 years and have probably been an intense fin fan far longer than you have.

Next time THINK before you post son.

I almost fell over laughing!!!! Now THAT is a stupid post! lol!!!

I never compared the value of Manning to the value of an ENTIRE line and the ENTIRE corp of receivers, read again....... Manning is ONE person, that is more important to ANY OTHER ONE PERSON ON HIS TEAM.

Get it?

And if you had to draft that entire successful team again, from scratch
who would you want the most and pick FIRST? Hmmmmmm,

I bet it would be Manning wouldn't it?
For the Patriots it would be Brady wouldn't it?
For the Packers it would be Favre wouldn't it?

So.....your mind is telling you something isn't it? QB is the position you fix EARLY and as FAST as you can, because you will go farther with an elite QB than you will with all things equal and an elite "other" position.

I hope that you did not let your love for Beck cloud your judgement again.

well by all means go BLOW OFF SOME STEAM, and play HOPSCOTCH until your not mad anymore, have a great day :)

YEAH lets finally spend a first or a second round draft pick on a QB for once because all of those QBs are successful. I am totally with you on that one. Screw that second round pick Beck. He wasn't picked in the first or second round so he won't be good. We need to stop picking up verteran QBs for the roster when we only have one QB on the roster in the offseason. If we would have spent a 1st rounder or 2nd rounder on a QB in the last few years we would have been good by now. Instead we took that 2nd rounder Beck in the 2nd round instead of drafting a QB in the 1st or 2nd round where the guaranteed good QBs are. Preach on brother. I am mad as hell just as you are.
