Anyone notice how much tougher and more intimidating Pittsburgh's defense is than ours?

The Steelers LB's and DB's are just a group of vicious hitters. Of course, in that area they are probably the premier defense in the NFL. But, while our DB's stood around looking at each other in confusion after each pass completion, the Steelers, even on completions, were hammering pass receivers.

Another interesting facet of the game to me was the number of pass breakups on big hits. It seemed that even when Dolphin receivers were open, that the Steelers DB's and LB's were strategically situated on the play to make a big hit.

This is the one area I talked about a few days ago in terms of what things the Dolphins were missing - one of those was a big hitter or two in the secondary. Hopefully, as the DB's develop and learn the system more instinctively, the hitting will improve. But, I just don't see receivers feeling intimidated by running a crossing route into our D-Backfield. They will be that way when running in Pittsburgh's backfield.

there's a reason they won three road playoff games and a superbowl

They are not all that. With 6 mins left in the game Miami was ahead and in control. I see it as a learning experience for them. The next time they meet the fins will win. No doubt about it.

And as for hitting, they were showing off AFTER they had the victory before that the hitting wasn't so much!

Miami had them shi..ing in their pants, that crowd as as silent as a rock with 6 mins left in the game.

i seem to recall a couple of balls jarred loose and a woozy booker - far more than our secondary was doing to disrupt.

but maybe i was watching a different game.

Hmmm.

Some things are beyond change.

The Steelers will always portray, the imposing malevolence of a steel curtain,

and the Dolphins... will always be the Dolphins.

I felt the same way. I thought out Defense would be flying aroung and hitting more out there. I think we did get intimidated a little.

The Steelers missed a ton of tackles. Booker didn't even get hit hard, he landed badly from his own volition as he dove for the ball. Mcmichael had a couple collisions in the secondary, but he popped right up no worse for the wear. We were not dominated or intimidated; we choked in the last 6 minutes of the game. If a team ever beat themselves we did, beginning with that idiotic pitch play on 3rd down when we were up by 3 with 6min left.

Misses the point and several hits. I have the game on tape and there were a lot more big hits - and they were almost all on the Steeler side.

Sure, we played competitively. Never said we didn't. And, we had a chance to win down the stretch but beat ourselves. But, they out physical'd us on both sides of the ball.

This post was not about what caused us to lose the game - it has little to do with your point. This post was about the heavy hitters on the Steelers and how we do not have many big hitters on D. Although, part of that may be a result of a lack of comfort with the system - a lack of aggressiveness and some confusion.

I didn't miss the point at all. I disagree with your view of the game. I also recorded the game and have watched most of the plays three times. I perceive you are a negative person and you saw the Steelers intimidating our Dolphins; I didn't see it that way, period.

Our defense

I hate our defensive scheme. We have hitters on defense, it's just Saban is trying to confuse the other team so much he's confusing his own guys. You have to be focused and reacting to get a big hit...us..we're trying to remember where we are suppose to be because we're confusing the other offense....RIGHT NICK? We went from being in the top 5 to being 18th LY and last night doesn't show me we are improving. We have good players on defense, but the scheme is horrible or it's not being taught the right way...WE HAVEN'T IMPROVED, we continued our slide backwards on defense.

We continually put pressure on the QB, but Nick's scheme doesn't make the DL maintain their lanes. So the 2nd string QB just steps up out of the pressure making the DB's more vunerable (and I'm sure we've blitzed someone) and allows big plays...then DB's get skewered or the QB runs for a big 1st down.

We had 3 sacks last night, but we allowed Batch to get out of trouble entirely to easy and should have had twice as many and Batch should have been on the ground the majority of the time after the play was over.

Ronnie has some moves, but in a game like last night....just put your head down and pound the defense. Plays don't develop against the Steelers, if it's open it will be for a split second....so I would have taken my chances of handing the ball off and make him run over anyone in the way.

You know what has me chapped? As I was watching DC standing in the pocket without ANYONE getting open, I realized that is the SAME thing we saw JF, AJF and GF do year after year and the only common denomiator is CC. A true #1 doesn't just disappear in big games, Nick needs to do the good morning america thing "WHERE IS CHRIS CHAMBERS" instead of Matt Lauer. SO it's either lack of creativity from the OC or CC is doing what he did the first 9 game LY...DISAPPEAR. Remember, Nick drafted 2 WR's in the draft...he knows something but not saying it...well he said LY.

Don't get me wrong, CC can make some great catches....but getting open and route running are NOT as good as a TRUE #1 should be. Make a difference in the big game.

I have to work now, I'm getting mad as hell again.
