Ben Roethlisberger broke into the NFL in 2004 and made his first career start in week 3 against Miami. He ended up going 14-0 in his first regular season. In 2005 he started 12 games and missed 4. Of those 4 games Pittsburgh went just 1-3. With Big Ben they went 10-2.

Point is, since Roethlisberger came into the NFL in 2004 the Steelers are just 2-5 without him. I never wish injuries upon someone, but if Big Ben is a no go for the opener, we should be the heavy favorites to win.

If it looks like Ben misses the season, I think the Steelers bring in Kerry Collins on a one-year deal.

Ben will probably play some this year. I don't see him being ready for the opener, but as long as he has no structural damage to his arms and legs he should be able to play.

he has 'serious injuries to his knees'

Pittsburgh is screwed if Ben can't play. They have Charlie Batch as the primary backup I believe. In the running game, they have Willie Parker and then a whole bunch of scrubs behind him. That offense looks to be in trouble.

Well I'm a Big Ben fan and I've been reading about this issue a lot in the past two hours. Reports suggest that his knee injuries are not structural and more cosmetic. He may have stredded the skin covering his knees but it doesn't seem like there is any structural damage from recent reports. I hope its just cosmetic damage because he really seems like a cool guy. Its unfortunate he had to be drafted by the steelers.

It's great that, hours after his serious accident, you are already thinking about implications it will have for the Week One matchup.

Trust me, Miami will be the underdogs (and lose) regardless of whether Roethlisberger plays or not.

Just because Buffalo loses to the Steelers backups doesn't mean Miami will.

Get out of here. I am so sick of these BITTER Buffalo fans coming in here and saying how bad we are when they are going to win 4 or 5 games tops next year. No need to be bitter and jealous man.

9-7, 5-11. Until that changes I don't think you can talk crap about who the Phins gunna win and lose to. If they somehow don't have Rothlesberger do you really think Charlie Batch is going to beat Daunte Culpepper or even Harrington?

I swear to God stupid bills fans ruin everything.

Seriously, they are so bitter of our sucess that is about to come. They are just crying because they were suppose to have their break out year last season, then they choked it. They are all pissy because their franchise is inferrior to ours. It really does get annoying.
