Steelers | Ward says he will play in opener
Tue, 5 Sep 2006 06:16:24 -0700
Armando Salguero, of the Miami Herald, reports Pittsburgh Steelers WR Hines Ward (hamstring) says he will play in the team's season opener. ''You know I'm not missing this game,'' Ward said during a conference call with Miami media Monday, Sept. 4. "Yes, I will be playing.''

Good. That limits the excuses for them for later.

hahaha dude i love your pic with the dog! that's great lol.

i'm glad hines is playing this gives us more of an opportunity to show how are secondary plays against one of the best players on offense. I wish Ben was playing too because that would really show how capable we are of playing against top tier QBs in this league. Not to knock Charlie Batch or anything but I'd rather have all the starters in there. Not to mention their defense. I'm really looking forward to see how we can run against these guys.

I'm glad he's playing. I want their best team on the field. With Ben out the Steelers are already making excuses. Plus, I want to see our revamped secondary work against someone good. We will have 11 days after this game to correct mistakes and flaws that are exposed.

charlie batch is a pretty good qb. I'd assume they can run their offense without a hitch with him there. I don't think he'll have the pocket presence Big Ben has though, and thats what we'll need to do. We'll need to collapse on Charlie to shut him down. Im glad they'll have ward on the field because i want to see will allen stand toe-to-toe with an elite receiver for a full game. I hope hes ready.

Just win the game, NOT focus on who's playing for the Steelers. Either way, a win is a win is a win. And only wins count at the end of the season when playoff teams are decided. Nowhere in the NFL does it say "you had this many wins but you don't get in the playoffs because X-team you beat didn't have their star QB".

Thanks. That's my boy. His 3rd bday.

Why would anybody be glad that he is playing against us  Who cares if they say we didn't beat their starters and everything. The fact is he makes it a tougher game for our team. I personally would rather have a better chance to win and let them talk than maybe end up with a loss.

exactly, i have no clue why people would rather play against the steeler with Big Ben and Hines Ward than play the steelers without them. It doesnt make sense. Big Ben and Hines Ward out the game gives us a better chance to win and a WIN is all that matters!!!
