Given the injury to Pouncey and the comments by Gase during his press conference today, I believe Steen is a lock to make the 53. The level of praise by Gase for the backup center convinces me he has made it.

From reports I read today the Dolphins actually ran the ball well in practice with some consistency with Steen at Center so lets see how he does in the next two preseason games.

I am not surprised. He looked very calm and effective when he replaced Pouncey during the Dallas game. Until the Dallas game I knew very little about him.

Not the biggest Pouncey fan but would anyone really be comfortable with Steen starting at C in Seattle? Hopefully the guy turns out to be a diamond in the rough.

I've never heard of Steen until today.

I think Seattle is going to gobsmack us either way. I am OK with seeing of Steen can hang out there with them.

All we can hope for in Seattle is for the line to protect tannehill. I don';t believe we'll be able to run on them which sucks cause that's how you keep their fans from being so loud. We're gonna need some screens(which is probably what pouncey does best) and roll outs to keep them from killing tannehill. I hope grant is returning kicks. That's one area that could help us. having good field position but regarless of all that, our defense will probably get blown away.

Ozzy rules!!

Does arm length or hand size matter at center? If so, the guy had the shortest arms ( 30.5) and smallest hands (9.125) of all the centers at his combine (2014). Strong guy though. Can bench 500 lbs. Hope he can cut the mustard. Who else do we have?

Note: I am copying some information from another poster.

Steen played at Alabama, more than held his own against some of the best college def. He worked his way from an UDFA to 2nd team center passing Douglas to start versus the Falcons on Thursday.

He actually spent all of 2014 on the Arizona practice squad. He spent a couple of weeks on the Arizona practice squad in 2015 before being signed to our practice squad. I really should have known more about this guy.

If he does as well as I expect versus the Falcons, then I would be comfortable with him as the opening day starter.

Steen is young, unless he gets injured he can only get better. Being able to bench press 500 pounds sure means he can shove a Vince Wilfork out of the way if he really wanted to.

Pouncey gets injured on the third offensive series of the Dallas game, Steen cam in and did well in pass protection and the sole running play that gained 6 yards.

In a perfect world Steen plays solid and the Dolphins shop Pouncey.
