The Denver Broncos were looking at the possibility of making a trade for Williams, but discovered the positive drug test in the process.

It was then leaked to a Denver television station which leaked the news.

Steinberg was upset the news was leaked before the appeal could possibly prevent a suspension and feels someone should be fired for it.

Steinberg said, "It's really distressing that what is supposed to be a confidential, private rehabilitation and assistance program gets talked about by supposed league officials. It runs completely contrary to the law and spirit of the program. For this to come out before we have had a chance to go through the appeal process is extremely disappointing. To me, it's the type of thing someone should be fired for."

He has a point..LOL... what bothers me is that trade talks were so serious that the Broncos were checking into Ricky. Smart move by them obviously

Im wondering if something like this pretty much dissolves any trade relationship between the phins and broncos ever again (atleast while saban is coach) I mean I know I would be pissed and probably have the attitude of never dealing with them again.

LOL, maybe the leak was "punishment" in any case I really don't care, it's a dog eat dog world.

But they couldn't have made any trade untill March anyways, so I'm sure the Broncos would have found out either way.
Also, I'm not sure if Saban would be notified, it could be between the league and Ricky, and it's not the leagues business to tell anyone but Ricky...which is Steinberg's point.

This is my point right here! You would have me believe that Denver let the story out to lower his trade value only to have the Phins so pissed off that they now won't deal with Denver? What good does it do Denver at all but to lower his trade value for ANOTHER team??? I wanted Ricky in Denver now it looks like thats not going to happen.

No doubt. This is wrong that Wicky's info was leaked like this. The man has rights.

This is such a joke. This is the kind of thing that could have been a mistake and went completely under the radar. It could have been between Ricky and the NFL. But instead, it has been made into a big scandal of speculation. People are nuts sometimes.

sensationalism, that's all it is.

Don't blame the media for doing its job
Blame Ricky for providing the league a reason to qualify him as in Violation
Blame the league for Leaking info about Ricky to the Bronco's before the appeal process was finished.
Hey Blame Ricky again, because he found out before Sunday and hasn't provided any response. If he is found to have something he can't explain I understand he is going the legal route. But hey, if its something that is trivial and easily explainable, seems to me the PR game should have started by now from Rickys camp.
Ricky earned this type of response from the media, it's their job to dig for info

I'm not sure what you are driving at here. The news was going to break when he gets suspended any way. It is highly unlikely one or all of these stories are not true.

i dont want us to do business with denver ever again.

**** the broncos.

they are moving up my ****list right now.

I just dont want us to deal him to denver... i say we keep em
Yes. I would hate to lose Ricky. I admire what Sammy Morris did for us last year but he's no Ricky.

That's just it, it theory the story was never supposed to 'break' before he had a chance to appeal. It was supposed to be a private matter until Ricky said otherwise.

im gonna laugh when ricky ends up being next years superbowl MVP... that will make for a great headline..
