Stephon Wheeler from Mich St has signed according to Draftdaddy.com
He is 6,4 339 and has played left tackle although seems slow from what I have heard(ESPN Times are always off) When recruited they thought he had possible NFL potential and has been banged up alot. He started 23 games I believe so he may be practice squad material. Another of his connections.

This an excerpt from when he was recruited
Stephon Wheeler, 6'6, 330, Milford, Conn. Prep Academy. Another early MSU commitment. Late-bloomer originally from Passaic, NJ. Visited MSU Dec. 1 and committed - choosing MSU over Purdue, Iowa, BC and Syracuse. Recruited by Jeff Stoutland. Prep coach was All-East OL at BC and says Wheeler has great feet and hands to go along with a work ethic that coach believes will make him a future NFLer. Prep team has 13 players offered D-I scholarships.

The info has been slow but I have tried to get out as much as I can as soon as I can find it on undrafted free agents.

Also so I dont have to make a new thread this is what was said of Vickerson when he was recruited.

DE Kevin Vickerson, 6'6, 265, 4.85, Detroit King. Highly recruited DL. #42 player in Midwest by SuperPrep - which notes only qualifying question marks keep him from being rated higher and calls him "physically gifted" ; as well as #43 player in the Midwest by Lemming. Lemming terms him "an All-American waiting to happen." One of the top six prospects in Michigan. First-team all-state selection. Had 97 tackles and 17 sacks as a senior, despite spending some time at DT. Had 98 tackles and 21 sacks as a junior. Very quick off the ball and has good closing speed. Possesses extremely impressive 34" vj for big man. Some say he could be a dominant OT, as well. Chose MSU over OSU, Miami and Minn. Committed to MSU last July.

Another scouting report on Wheeler

Strengths: Has good size and bulk. Is strong. Keeps legs driving and finishes blocks. Sets quickly and holds his ground. Has a wide wingspan; can ride off defenders when locked on.

Weaknesses: Lacks initial pop and overall mobility. Does not have a quick first step. Is more productive in short area run-blocking situations. Struggles in the open field. Has durability and conditioning concerns. Bottom line: Wheeler shows a lot of hustle and leadership on the field but his injury concerns will likely hold him back. He probably won’t be drafted but should be signed as a free agent.

Notes:
A three-year starter (32 career) at left tackle...Did not allow a sack in 2005... Put on a bunch of weight following the injury and has had a lot of trouble getting rid of it...Definitely has some tools to develop but he will need to get in shape first.

Apparantly, Wheeler wasnt drafted because he ran a 5.72 40.

I actually heard this before he signed. My husband works with his aunt and she told him. He called me to tell me, but I hadn't heard anything about him.

Did he stop for soda at the 20 yard point?

Happy birthday btw

And you didn't drop everything and run to tell us? Shame!:goof::D:lol:

I didn't believe him because I didn't hear anything about him. She apparently doesn't know football because she told hubbie we drafted him. Didn't want to post any false rumors.

Im assuming that these type of players that are being signed are more than likely practice squad guys. I'm also believing that Kay Jay will be in our line-up every now and then with Gerald Riggs Jr. on the team right?

Of the six we know of so far, Riggs will battle Harris for the fourth RB spot (assuming we carry four and assuming Morris is also the back-up FB allowing us to only need five total backs).

Holland has a chance to become the third QB though, PS and NFLE seem a more likely carreer path for his future.

McNeil and Wheeler will go into the Oline mix and I think PS might even be a reach given that both Brooks and Berger would, I think, still be eligible for that roster and we have more invested in them.

Bray and McGrew are similar to the two Olinemen going into a battle where there are lots of others who came out of college a few years ago but have not become starters. Their ability to play ST will likely decide their eventual roster location.

So in another words, the competition is wide open :)
