I was telling my son about this play but I couldn't find a clip of it anywhere on the Internet.

OK, the article says Emtman "grabbed it" but I distinctly remember Emtman interviewed about the play and him saying Marino's pass was actually stuck in his facemask.

Now he doesn't believe me.

Someone tell me I'm not crazy!

Colts 31, Dolphins 20
MIAMI, Oct. 25 (AP) -- And then there were none.

Rookie Steve Emtman made a game-saving interception on the final play today and returned it 90 yards for a touchdown as Indianapolis handed Miami its first defeat of the season, 31-20.

The score came on fourth-and-goal at the Colts' 7-yard line, with Miami threatening to win the game. Taking the snap with 17 seconds left, Dan Marino drilled a pass toward the end zone, but Emtman -- standing only 5 yards in front of the quarterback -- reached up and grabbed it.

Indianapolis' 290-pound end, the top pick in last April's National Football League draft, lumbered down the left sideline untouched, crossing the goal line as time ran out. It was one of five Miami (6-1) turnovers.

Does anyone remember this play and the ball being stuck in his facemask?

I FOUND IT !!!

Emtman, who wears No. 90, ran 90 yards. The top pick in last April's NFL draft charged down the left sideline untouched, crossing the goal line as time ran out.

"It stuck in my face mask," said the 6-foot-4 Emtman. "I don't know what happened. All I know is my legs went dead at about the 50. I couldn't see anything ahead.

"Worst part of it was when I got to the sidelines, they'd already unhooked the oxygen."

I was at that game. Came down from NY., i was sick watching that live.

that game was the last game that I have missed.
I was a friends wedding that day.
I was in the bathroom of the place. ( it was a nice place and had a TV in the bathroom)
I was so pissed after.....
Side note...
They got divorced

That was the first loss after the team started 6-0 that year. The Colts pulled the upset after Emtman's interception (ball stuck in his face mask) sealed the game. The Dolphins would get revenge a couple weeks later by shutting out the Colts 28-0.

That was also the last year the Dolphins made it to the AFC championship game. Losing embarrassingly at home to the hated Bills 29-10, not good memories.

Right I know it wasn't a good Dolphins memory but it was a crazy play, I have never heard of a interception being made from the ball sticking in a players facemask.

Emtman is the first player I can remember having a cadaver ligament used to repair a damaged knee.

He underwent two operations in the span of three months to repair the second injury. Last Oct. 11 -- the day after he was hurt -- he had the patella tendon reattached to his kneecap. In January he had the anterior cruciate ligament repaired with a tendon from a cadaver.

I hate that play. It was my first Dolphins game and it ruined my night.

For trivia buffs, it was also the first game where we used Troy Vincent on punt returns. He was a rookie and people were getting on Shula to put him out there.

I remember that game. I was on the field as part of the half time show for the American Lung Association. Still pisses me off today!

That dolphin team was really good. Too bad we got the bad luck of the playoff draw the bills, always a bad matchup. Ettman I thought would be a hall of famer candidate. To bad for the injuries.

I will NEVER forget that play....

I had a miserable bus ride home from school that Monday. A kid and his sister the whole way home "you're just mad a 290 lb'er ran 90 yards...if you swoll, say you swoll...if you swoll say you swoll"

Nothing I could say back either....he did, and I was (once I finally found out what "swoll" meant)

Yeah, that play sucked. One of those type plays that has seemed to plague the Dolphins over the years.

Also, Emtman ended up playing for the Dolphins in '95/'96. Unfortunately, his knees were pretty much shot when he got here.
