Steve McNair's Contract

Just saw on NFL.com that Steve McNair signed a 5-year contract. Why on earth did he sign such a long term contract at his age? Does he actually think he has enough in the tank or is it pretty much a short term contract packed into a 5-year deal kinda like the Saints did with Brees with his high front end contract?

yeah, If they gave him a big signing bonus the cap hit will be spread over the five year contract. When he gets cut then it will all be accelerated into that years cap.
