Steve Young's take on Beck?

I didn't hear it but I'd be interested in it too. He seemed a little shocked when we didn't take Quinn

Did anyone catch Young's opinion of Beck? I'd be interested to hear how he projects Beck to the NFL.

I don't know what he said but it was probably good just because Young always sucks QB's *****. He was all over Edwards at the beginning of he draft. He is a horable analysis cause he is completly biased towards the QB and OFF. Did you here him bashing the GB pick just because it was not to help Farve help. He wa like whats that do for brett you got to do what helps our Qb.

Well Steve Young went to BYU , so of course he's going to act like he likes Beck.. They are fellow alumni and fellow mormons .. Those people stick to each other..

Kind of like how Cameron sticks to Ginn's family through thick and thin.. Even if it costs a team $25 million.

We get it, you don't like Ginn or Beck. Do you have to state it in every thread? Its pretty annoying

That wasn't even the funniest Analysis of the day. the best was when Keyshawn said XYZ team WILL take a receiver with their given first round selection. He said it i believe 8 times in a row, until they stopped asking the bum. Then Carolina goes and picks a receiver...:sidelol:

"Those people"?? What's wrong with you? Do you even know any Mormons? I don't think you understand what it takes to pass up 2 years of college in order to travel to a foreign country. I don't think you understand character, dedication, or commitment at all. For a "master evaluator", you completely skipped on the foundation of what all great men are made of.

OOOOOHHH! Thats great! I love how great of a person Beck is! Thats really going to help our team win footballs games, right? I mean at least he wont get suspended.....but wait a sec...is he even going to play any games before he turns 30 in the first place?

Hear Hear! Staubach spent 6 years in the Navy after the Cowboys drafted him, I suppose that makes him "one of those people".

I couldn't say if he will play and be great quarterback for us or not, the funny thing is, neither can you.

Short answer: yes.

Long answer: yeeeeeeeeeessssssssssssssss.

Beck has the physical tools as well. Nonetheless, if you don't have a guy who's committed, who is a leader and capable of being that high character guy, you don't have a guy who has the slightest bit of ability as a QB. Look at Vick - his insane contract and "exciting" gameplay certainly haven't helped the Falcons reach the promise land, now have they? On top of that he's got character issues. Tom Brady, Manning, Hasslebeck - all guys with a drive to win and ability to lead others. You wanna fool yourself? Fine by me.

Well it looks to me like John Beck is the anti-Marino pick. Beck has all these well-documented off the field character pluses and Marino had a character red flag (accused of drug use and we all knew his temper). Marino had every physical tool, was a large qb and had a cannon. Beck is small for a qb and has an average at best arm. Marino had a dissapointing senior year while Beck had a superb senior year (at least statistically). O and lets not forget their respective ages when drafted: Marino, 22, and Beck, 25.

Personally, i enjoyed what Marino did for us at quarterback and taking a qb that is the exact opposite of him doesnt really make me feel comfortable.

Marino only got passed over because it was the year of the Quarterback. His production also fell of his Senior year compared to his junior year at Pitt. Character only helps, it isn't the the be all and end all of whether a QB will be a player or not. That happens out on the field, and IMO, Beck is the type of brainy QB that Cameron's offense requires. Now if Ronnie Brown blossoms then we may get somewhere.
