With our current QB situation as it is I still don't understand why we made no effort to sign David Carr rather than go after senior citizen trent Green. carr is only two years older than our draft pick and has been a starter in the NFL since his rookie season. Last year he completed 68 % percent of his passes on a not very good team. He can make all the throws just has never had any semblence of a line and has played for a team that was an expansion team 5 years ago. His team was every bit as bad as ours last year without any running game and he did a far better job than any Qb on our roster. Would not have cost us any draft picks and been fairly low cost but we passed for whatever reason. Kill the groming talk because that is B.S, i just think he would have been a decent low risk move that is as accurate as any QB in draft and can make all the throws. I'm sure he would like to go to a team that might be able to make some semblence of an oline. I would not be very suprised to see him be the starter in carolina at some point this season. I know some will say that they are tired of retreads but Carr was no where near as bad as harrington and always seemed to be a solid guy on the field for a team that has never given him pass protection. I just think he would have given us a better chance to win, until beck was ready than Green or taking a hcance that Culpepper won't be ready.

4 reasons. John beck, Cleo lemon, Daunte Culpepper, And possibly Trent Green.

I have wondered the "real" reasons for this too dlockz.. it made perfect sense "to me" to grab him.. and as obvious as it was, there had to be some good reasons not to...

The only (and honestly, best) reason I can come up with is that Cameron/Mueller didn't want him. It didn't take long for Joey to get his walking papers, and any interest we had in Carr always seemed superficial in order to put some pressure on KC for Green. Green was their guy all along as far as I can tell, and they weren't going to budge.

And to add to that, I think David Carr is much more talented than Philip Rivers. Cam could have done wonders with him.

Kind of a moot point now... but when it was a possibility, I was hoping that the Phins would try to pick him up as well.
But, I guess he was not what Cam is looking for.
Cam has a plan. We just have to hope it is a good one!

Ok give good reasons. Carr put up much better numbers his senior season in college than Beck and was 68 percent accurate in the pros which is pretty damn rare last season. Not saying beck will not be good but there is nothing beck has in his arsenal that Carr would not bring to the table.

it seems that way but it seems a very narrow view for our staff to take especially since Green is not that good anymore.

1) David Carr blows.

2) We were going to draft a qb and Carr is a long term signing and solution for someone that would like to sink their franchise.

3) Trent Green has been on Cams radar since he took the job. He has been the plan all along. He already knows the system and is too perfect seeing as we were drafting a guy and Green is only good for a couple more seasons tops. Perfect.

4) But mostly because David Carr flat out blows. Youre talking about one of the worst QBs in the league. We already have one of those that we are trying to get rid of now.

Trent Green is, always has been, and always will be far superior to David Carr. How you can think otherwise baffles me. [mod] edited again - next time its time off [/mod]

If youre confused about that than maybe you should take up soccer or something. Football must be way to complicated for you to understand. Let me help.

First I find your post insulting and second of all I would not talk about anyone's knowledge of football when the most intelligent criticism of David carr is he blows and he is one of the worst Qb's in football. I said what I had to say in the post and it did not correlate to me knowing knothing about football. You do realize david carr played for five years for an expansion team. He was the most sacked qB in football because they ignored thier oline much like us and still has not totally stunk up the joint. Go back through the history of expansion teams and tell me how many Qb's have been ALL-Pros.

Steve Young a hall of famer with a good team posted these great stats with the awful Bucs.

5 | 72 138 52.2 935 6.8 3 8 | 40 233 1 |
| 1986 tam | 14 | 195 363 53.7 2282 6.3 8 13 | 74 425 5 |

There is only one Qb I know of that went to the pro bowl with an expansion team and that was Kerry Collins in his second year with a much better team than the Texans have built. Any QB that completes 68 percent of his passes in the NFL is a pretty good Qb especially with his oline. If you want to debate I'm wrong thats fine, but keep the side bar comments to yourself and give the respect that you would like to receive to other people when they make a post.

What Madden has to do with arguement is beyond me. I'm wondering if you actually watch football or just make stuff up on your own. trent green has been on much bettter teams than Carr, do you think green would have lasted 5 minutes behind that Texan line. He would be concussed out of the league by now. I mean seriosuly do you think green would last behind that oline or would he magically be able to not get sacked.

id rather have him than Trent Green I think David Carr still could be something good in the league
