there is a large group of fans that think our WR core is just fine. to anybody that paid attention today, they can see we do not have a good group. they could not create seperation at all. i know chad missed some guys but some of those pics, he didnt have a wr open. they were blanketed by the raven defenders. the only drive the entire game where our WRs had any seperation was after the ravens went up 20-3 and then they backed off a little so they wouldnt get beat deep. then as soon as we got down close to the goal line they tighted back up and nobody was open. granted ud like chad not to throw the pick in that situation but if u look at all the WRs on that play, they were all completley covered. each one of our guys has little things that they can do nice but we need an upgrade bigtime.

i think when camarilo went down ginn got a little worse, but we need an A or B guy to go next to ginn.. hopefully boldin but who knows, then we would have davone bess and camarillo playing the slots for possesion catches with brandon london as number 5.. that sounds like a good core to me good enough to actually see a 5 wide once or twice next year..

It's a 2-fold problem against a defense like the Ravens. The first problem is the receivers - yes, there was very little separation. Let's admit it - young guys like Ginn, London, and Bess aren't prolific route runners yet.

On top of that, if you're wanting CP to throw longer passes, you need more than a little separation. Certainly if he had more velocity on his throws you might be able to get by with less separation. That's not a knock on CP, just the reality that raw route runners with no separation + slightly floaty throws are going to get eaten alive by a ball-hawking secondary like the Ravens'.

The problem today wasn't with the wide receivers. It was because our offensive line got manhandled.

All the problems are interconnected, of course. Maybe better WR play could have made up for the crap protection CP got. Maybe throws with more zip could have made up for lack of separation by WRs. So on and so forth.

All three of those phases sucked today - no point in pinpointing blame on any one group of guys - we basically failed as a team. After succeeding as a team all year long, it was somewhat fitting I guess.

they were a huge problem today...we couldnt thrown down field at all because they couldnt get open. there were multiple times today chad had time...but nobody to throw too. this team was 1-15 last year. we need upgrades at a few positions, i know that. i simply brought up the WRs because of the large number of fans on here who think we dont need any other WRs. and this game showed that against a good secondary, they were terribly inaffective.

People are in such a rush for quick fixes, Miami has bigger needs than WRs, especially since this is a young group that is a work in progress. Bess is a rookie and has done well his first year and Ginn has progressed and cam along when Pennington had some time to throw in the 2nds half and started to make big catches. Lets use a first round draft pick on a WR, and then, like I believe Ginn on his third season will take the next step, which many Wrs take threes seasons to really make the step in their career, and does become the go to guy for Miami and Bess develops further into a solid no.2 WRs and use that pick for a WRs when this happens and just waste it on a position that was still progressing and find out doesn't need help. So a pick goes there when it could have been better suited for lb, Cb, Ol, etc.

And ends up a luxury pick. It's one thing if Miami didn't have other needs and was one player away from the super bowl, but this team isnt. While they have improved greatly, they still are more than one player away from being a super bowl team. There are much more important positions to use top draft picks on than WR, especially when Ginn, I don't see why Ginn can't or won't become the go to guy, as he has come along well and like I said it takes three years for very good Wrs, that were more polished coming out of college, and Ginn is the rawest talent at WR coming out, so it's understandable if he doesn't coming blasting out of the gates in the nfl right off the bat.

never said we should draft a WR in the 1st round and never said we didnt have other needs. this group will not get the job done, not now, not ever. so upgrades need to be made

Not ever? Wow, quite a prediction there Nostradamus. Good thing the Falcons didn't listen to people like you with such impatience, or else Roddy White would have been gone. He didn't do much his first and second season and now look at himn? Like I said it takes usually three seasons, and it's one thing if Ginn hasn't shown improvement, but he has, and this is Bess first season, it's way to early to give up on the WR crew or want new talent, when this group is young and still developing. If Ginn doesn't do anything by the third season, then you can say that, but I think he will step it up even more, but then again I can't tell the futue like you can and have already made your mind up on the WRS.

so ur prediction that they will be productive is better then mine why?
i never said cut all of them.. i didnt say none of them would be good. but this group as it is, is mediocre at best.

I didn't say they will be great, I'm just saying it's too early to give up on Ginn or Bess, because they have the talent or at least Ginn has shown the ability but hasn't put it all together yet, but that doesn't mean he won't especially since he's still learning and WRs don't break out or put it together until their third season. I'm just saying why put all the effort on a group that is still developing and may not need help, whereas, other groups that aren't rookies and we already know their potential more like lbs, Cbs, the Ol, etc.

And like I was saying, even if the group is medioce now, because they are young and developing, the group has a decent chance of being better and actually pretty good with the same cast, because of the development of the young guys improving and progressing. Bess has shown to be pretty good for his first season, so I could see him only get better and be a good no.2 Wr and Ginn improving next season to the no.1 role, which would make the cast next year pretty good if not better, because the talents there, it just takes a little time for young players, but it's not like they haven't done anything, they have shown flashes of ability.

well im not trying to give up on either player. 1st off i think best case scenario ginn is a number 2...not a number 1. and really i think he is better off in the slot where bess is playing. i think bess is exactly where he needs to be in the slot. i dont think he needs to be a number 2. i think both have the potential to be good solid WRs. BUT, i think they need a real number 1 for that to happen. i dont think they can handle being our number 1 and 2 WRs. but i guess thats my opinion and of course u have yours.

I think Ginn has the talent, as he has shown flashes of big play ability, just hasn't been consistent, which is quite usual for WRs in only their second season. I don't see why Ginn can't be a no.1 WR. What because he's small? He can beat the press, he just has to keep getting better with his route running and other things, but I like how he fights for the ball and looked like a veteran with the way he adjusts to the ball against the Jets for the big catches. I don't know what is up with the thought that a Wr can't be smaller framed to be a no.1 WRs, I thought that has been proven wrong by Santana Moss, Harrison, Steve Smith, Hell Lee Evans isn;'t exactly a tall Wr at 5'10" and so forth
