We saw a few flashes last year of his atheletic ability, albeit raw. Then he was suspended and there were fans on here who were calling for us to cut him / wasn't worth a roster spot, McCain is flat out better, etc.

Jordan showed some "stuff" today - good "hands" and return on the blocked FG. How huge was that? The typical defensive lineman oaf would have bumbled that and we get the ball at the 40 - and in a game like today that probably means best we do is kick a FG. But he grabbed that bouncing ball and ran like his life depended on it and set up our only TD of the day.

Equally impressive IMO - the pass breakup in the back of the EZ on a perfectly thrown ball to Johnson. He broke that up like a defenisve back. Not many 275 pound guys in the league could make that play, let alone be in position to make it.

There was another play where he helped defend a 50 yard or so bomb into the EZ. Again, how he was in position back there is impressive.

This guy has the raw goods. It's up to the coaches to bring it out in him but IMO he has a great chance of developing into a very disruptive, guy you need to account for type of player.

I'd have him drop 20 lbs and make him a full time linebacker. He's too good in space.

he picked up a fumble behind everybody and got run down by a slow white guy, and thats his signature play?

Rofl. If he was on seattle they woukd be saying he wasn't black enough after that play....

I thought he would have been faster too and damn, who whiffed on the block of the guy who tackled him...Jones?

a "physical freak" doesnt get run down by a 3rd string tight end

Thx, if Wilson just stepped in his way Jordan walks in...and we all saw that's the only way he would have got in.

He's 275. He got run down by a converted FB to TE. How is that "on him"? He put us inside the 5 and set up our only TD.

TBH, I thought his pass defense on Calvin Johnson was an equally great play.

So it was a "bad" play by Jordan?

He's not a physical freak. That's part of the reason Dion was overdrafted. He looks the part but he flunked the metrics. He's not as fast or explosive as it appears if you merely look at his frame and make assumptions. I wasn't surprised at all when he got run down.

Still, I agree that he's been underrated recently by the fan base. I posted that a couple of days ago. He's got certain skills that can be helpful if utilized correctly. But if you expect him to be a consistent terror at defensive end or linebacker you'll be disappointed, whether it's in the 4-3 or 3-4. Early in the game it was glaring how slow off the mark Dion is, compared to our other linemen.

What I saw, or think I saw, was #89 TE Kellen Davis run him down. 6-7, 265 lbs, drafted by the Bears out of Michigan State, I don't think that he ever played FB. Anyway, he did make the bulked up Jordan look slow.

I think Jordan was actually gassed a bit. It slowed him down some.

When speaking of Dion Jordan, always remind yourself that he was the number 3 pick in the draft and that he cost us both a first and a second round pick. The Dolphins have played 25 games since he was drafted. In those 25 games he has had one, count them, one game in which he had any real positive impact at all. Then ask yourself if this is what you expect from the number 3 pick in the draft.

I expect the number three pick in the draft to be an immediate starter. I expect the number three pick in the draft to be dominant from his position by the start of his second year. If he doesn't meet these criteria, then we drafted the wrong guy.

Have him lose 15-20 and hope that his quickness shows up again. While I thought he played decent he looks like an average player right now/not at all what I expected when we drafted him. His run tackle and pass defense was great but he could be so much better with his elite quickness that I thought he would have...

Maybe you expect too much.
