Stop mentioning the Flynn 6 TD game!!!

this is true. His arm did look extremelyweak in that game
because it is. i honestly dont see why everyone is so intrigued by flynn.

their is a reason why despite plenty of teams needing a qb in past years, no one has even attempted to get flynn, who im sure the packers would have traded for a 4th rounder considering they had no need for him.

the guy stunk at college vs much inferior talent, ( and no i dont care that his teams had good records including a national title, plenty of college teams win titles without elite nfl qb talent, just see alabama, and i can go on and on) and now he has 1 great statistical game and hes the next great thing. i cant even call him a 1 year wonder because he has not even had that, hes had 1 great game in a meaningless game for the packers.

the best options would have been luck, which obviously wont happen, and manning who seems that he may not be ready so that may not be looking so good now.

we saw what we have in moore. hes far from great, but hes far from god awful like everyone makes him out to be. people may ask '" are you just ok with mediocrity year after year''. well the thing is if its between moore and flynn only, i have seen what moore can do over a stretch of games, and while hes not dan marino or tom brady by any means, he deff can make plays and if we add another weapon on offense, who knows.( the 49ers went ****ing 13-3 with alex smith, so any team can be successfull if they have the right players and not having an elite qb).

also, flynn does not make us elite, just like moore prob does not. however, if its between paying a guy like flynn 60 mill, taking up lots of cap space and disallowing us to sign other free agents due to the money tied up with an unproven commodity in him, or a guy like moore who is under contract for 1 more year for dirt cheap, i rather let moore start and if he sucks, hes gone with no strings attatched to him, as opposed to flynn who sucks, we would still have money owed to him, and we would prob be hesitant on getting another qb because of ''commitment'' to him, especially after 1 year.

best case scenario would have been luck or manning, unfortunately not happening. Now, draft a qb, let moore go into training camp as starter, if he sucks, good bye, and then next year we can go all in for barkley, a guy who really has potential as a franchise qb.

And also, if you think about it, the odds are that one of the teams selecting 1-5 this year has a good shot at selecting a qb this year, so if a team like indy, or washington got the 1st pick next year for example, considering both those teams will have prob gotten their qb in this years draft, im sure that pick would be plenty expandable, while at a big cost.

was he flying or did he turn invisible???

2 good games does not a payday make...ask the cardinals...
You can talk your way out of any move by pointing out one example of failure (so far). By that logic, we shouldn't bring in any QB.

Great teams become great by taking risks, whether that's through FA, through trade, or through the draft.

I still think he was drafted essentially a round in front of Moore for a reason regardless of a great game against a porous defensive backfield with no pressure on him. He was actually drafted close to Mr Irrelevent to back up the backup! Watching the BCS Championship game this season where the LSU backup QB was so bad that the stinking starter had to stay in coupled with Rohan Davey and JaMarcus Russell only would reinforce the impression that LSU QBs leave a lot to be desired.

Taking that a step further, many FH posters have long asserted that the chances of winning a superbowl rest with 1st round draft picks and have presented stats ad nauseum to support this assertion. They've routinely written off even successful 2nd round picks and certainly beyond as anomalies to the rule rather than refuting it. Where are these folks now?

However, with all that being said, if Philbin who, with the possible exception of Tom Clements professionally knows Flynn best ends up wanting him to hook his fledgling head coaching wagon to, then I would tend to agree considering the circumstances and be enthusiastically onboard. However, I couldn't say that if McCoy, Fisher or Zimmer had ended up as our HC; instead I'd still be shouting "Buyer Beware."

The same guys responsible for coaching Aaron Rodger out of his bad habits have been coaching Flynn for four years now. That, combined with the fact that Green Bay back ups tend to pan out more often than not, make me way more willing to take a chance on him than trading the farm to move up for Pat White 2.0.

Matt Moore fan boys are getting worried that an average QB is gonna get replaced...

You folks want 7-9/8-8 average record he is your man.

God people have forgotten what a real QB is...and many think Moore (LOL) is it...

So the OP would rather stick with Matt Moore and let Flynn go else where? At least Flynn has proven he can win in the NFL unlike any rookie we bring in, Moore has won games, but if you are truly content sticking with him as our QB then you have issues. We need competition, and yes lets not throw a boat load at money at him w/o making him work for it. We have to be smart about the contract we give him and add as many incentives we can so he performs and doesn't just get paid for nothing. This is a risk I am willing to take, and no one will know this kid more then Philbin, so if we sign him i know we have something good, if we dont then obviously hes not worth it...ONLY Philbin knows, not the OP, not any of us, not Ross, and def not Ireland. We must bring in QBs to compete with Moore, he is a good QB but he is not the future, and bringing in Flynn will at least push him to be better.

They also have to STOP bringing up Brandon Marshall's 4 TD's in the pro bowl against NO coverage.

ps.. I love Brandon.....but its an EXHIBITION game....with NO defense played!

I think the Matt Moore "fan club" just doesn't want to see an average QB replaced with a slightly better than average QB. The only thing I saw from the highlights of that 6 TD game was a Pennington 2.0. A guy who makes some pretty good decisions and will probably win quite a few games for a team but will never be an ELITE QB and lead his team deep in the playoffs and win the big game. I'm sure the owner and GM is asking the new coach if Flynn is an ELITE QB and someone the team should build around for the future and not just this year's hottest FA on the market who will soon be forgotten ala Kevin Kolb, Derek Anderson, AJ Feeley........

So those against Flynn would rather just stick with Moore and go 6-10 again next season. It's sad that mediocracy has been such a mainstay around here that some are willing to accept it year in and year out. The QB position is a risk no matter who is behind center. Manning's neck could break after one hit, RG III is a rookie so, he's going to take time to develop, not to mention that the bounty we'd have to give up to move up and get him wouldn't allow us to address other needs....No one knows for sure if Flynn will be successful or not, but, this isn't like Feeley coming here, like it was said before, Feeley didn't follow his OC to Miami and run the same WCO here as Flynn is doing. GB's offensive staff has shown a knack for developing their Backup QB's...You're going to take a risk with any QB, but... IMO which means nothing really, I feel Flynn would be an upgrade from Moore.

ps.. I love Brandon.....but its an EXHIBITION game....with NO defense played!

"NO Coverage?" He was double covered on 2 of those TD catches and one of them he was being held, -no ... MUGGED by the defender AS he was catching the ball.

Matt Flynn has proven he can win in the NFL??? He's started 2 games and he's 1-1. That's proving you can win in the NFL???

I'm sorry, I want to improve on Matt Moore too, but not by giving a fat *** contract and the keys to the kingdom to a guy that's played in 2 NFL games. Yeah, I'd much rather draft a young QB because that's historically how success is consistently found in football - draft a kid, groom him and build a team around him. Look what the Giants did with Eli, Steelers with Big Ben, what Carolina will do with Newton etc. etc.
Even if we do get Flynn, we still would have to draft a QB because of the nearly complete uncertainty that he brings.

So wait. You wanna take away after catch numbers from Flynn?

Every ****ing QB in the NFL gets inflated #s because of that.

If the Dolphins sign Matt Flynn then I'm fine with it.

It's not Flynn that I'm buying, although I think the original poster is nuts if he thinks you need to just not look at that 6 TD performance he had against the Lions.

What I'm buying is Joe Philbin's ability to oversee and develop game plans for Matt Flynn.

Simple fact of the matter is on the two occasions when Joe Philbin was forced to head into the week knowing that Matt Flynn, not Aaron Rodgers, would be his starting quarterback, he developed game plans with plays that were DIFFERENT from the ones he used with Aaron Rodgers, and they worked, to the tune of 27 points against the 14-2 New England Patriots (who went to the playoffs) and 45 points against the 10-6 Detroit Lions (who also went to the playoffs).

You'd be a fool if you're not at least a little bit intrigued by that pairing.

Or as a personnel executive recently put it (roughly) about Flynn's success up in Green Bay, "People say it's the system. Fine, then run that system."

If we get Flynn, don't expect to see any passes over 20 yards. His arm looks weaker then Jay Fiedler's. Any deep passes by Flynn will tend to float.
