I just don't like a QB who isn't a threat to throw it deep. Defenses will know he can't throw it deep and they will play up accordingly.
If the Dolphins sign Matt Flynn then I'm fine with it.
It's not Flynn that I'm buying, although I think the original poster is nuts if he thinks you need to just not look at that 6 TD performance he had against the Lions.
What I'm buying is Joe Philbin's ability to oversee and develop game plans for Matt Flynn.
Simple fact of the matter is on the two occasions when Joe Philbin was forced to head into the week knowing that Matt Flynn, not Aaron Rodgers, would be his starting quarterback, he developed game plans with plays that were DIFFERENT from the ones he used with Aaron Rodgers, and they worked, to the tune of 27 points against the 14-2 New England Patriots (who went to the playoffs) and 45 points against the 10-6 Detroit Lions (who also went to the playoffs).
You'd be a fool if you're not at least a little bit intrigued by that pairing.
Or as a personnel executive recently put it (roughly) about Flynn's success up in Green Bay, "People say it's the system. Fine, then run that system."
I didn't know Yoda was a Dolphins fan?was he flying or did he turn invisible???
2 good games does not a payday make...ask the cardinals...

Matt Flynn, PackersScouting Report: Flynn was essentially Colt McCoy coming out of LSU: Weak arm, fairly athletic, and a “winner.” He’s started one NFL game, completing 64.9 percent of 37 attempts for 251 yards, three scores, and a pick in last year’s 31-27 Week 15 loss to New England. In that game, Flynn displayed impressive poise and accuracy. In three preseasons, Flynn has gone 83-of-135 (61.5%) for 855 yards (6.33 YPA), five touchdowns, and two interceptions. He’s got limited tools, but we suspect Flynn would be a better starter than at least a few teams have in place.
Availability: Flynn is due $555,000 in the last year of his deal. The Packers need to either sign him to an affordable extension or trade Flynn while they still can. Flynn has shown that he can keep Green Bay competitive if Aaron Rodgers misses time, so GM Ted Thompson probably prefers the former. Still, he may be hard pressed to turn down a third-round pick if offered.
That reminds me of things I read coming out of Green Bay about Aaron Rodgers around the time when Brett Favre was doing the waffle dance about staying or going.
Just saying.
where'd you read "weak arm" with "limited tools" when it comes to Rodgers?
Just askin' :idk:
I remember a time when Tom Brady's arm was considered by the media and peanut gallery one of the weakest in the game, amongst his fellow NFL starters.
Then he started producing on historical levels and suddenly it's like, MAN that Tom Brady can throw the ball, he's got a good arm!
