Why do so many of you want to get rid of Ricky so bad? I will never understand it. Sure he walked away from the team, but the team now trusts him and they are around him everyday so why shouldn't we? Do you hate having a league rushing champion at base salary in the backfield? Do you hate having someone prolonging the life of Brown? Is it the fact that ricky is a workaholic and gives 100% all the time? That he doesn't care about money anymore so may come cheap for a long time? Or is it maybe the fact that he just reveiled he is learning all kinds of new ways to see holes on plays that he never saw before (like his last TD, the article was posted earlier in the week)? Maybe we could get a first for him and spend millions of cap space on Ryan Leaf, Aundry Bruce, Tony Mandarich, Sammy Smith, Andre Ware, Blair Thomas, Steve Emtman, Rick Mirer, Heath Shuler (who was replaced by Gus of all people), Ki-Jana Carter, Lawrence Phillips, Curtis Enis, Akili Smith, Cade McNown, need i go on? Sure we have tons of holes to fill, but trading away a perrenial pro bowler that makes vet minimum is not the way to fill them.

I doubt that they trust Ricky as much as you think. You just cannot place too much investment into someone who has done what he did. There was never really any valid reason for him leaving the way he did. No excuse for that ever.
Sure, we love his contribution to the game and it makes us feel good, but his exit wounds will always linger.

I don´t hate Ricky, but I not trust in him anymore... my brain stuck in th fact of he will quit again... sometime.... and then I HOPE Ricky is not on Miami... Trade him for a 2nd and go ahead...

In Saban We Trust!!!

You don't have to trust him, but he and Ronnie can make a nice backfield together for many years. No way I'd trade him because your not gonna get good market value for him anyway after the walk away incident IMO. Go Fins....

I'm not a hater. But I'll never trust him to be 'the man' again. If he can stay, contribute, and not cost us so much that we have to sacrifice elsewhere then keep 'im! :goof: I sure didn't ***** when he broke out that run and scored!

I love Ricky, he's a model citizen IMO. Anybody that can say, "I don't want millions of dollars, thats not important to me"... anybody that is willing to walk away from fame and fortune to make a principled stand like he did is a class guy IMO. I know most of you think he's some stupid pothead. But I think he's a civil liberties hero that was unwilling to compromise what HE FEELs should be his right as a human being for what others with money and power tell him is not his right. The man donates money to charities, takes care of his kids, tutored kids in college while asking NOT to be recognized instead of TO be recognized. Everyone says he's the nicest guy they've ever met, would give you the clothes off his back, and is genuinely as concerned with a complete stranger's well being as he is his own. A lot of these qualities are something you find much more commonly in a "pothead" than your normal 9-5er who consider themselves much more morally upright than someone who chooses to smoke marijuana. Get real people, give marijuana users the right they deserve and erase this false stigma. Ricky is a true hero in my book, and I'm glad he did what he did. BTW, Ricky didn't leave so much because he felt wronged by being suspended for his marijuana use as he did because he felt a huge responsibility as a sports star that kids looked up to not to be a negative role model on them and he left because he did not want to be that role model who was portrayed as a drug addict. Hats off to Ricky Williams for being one of the most genuine and outspoken sports stars in a long long time.

Then why is he always being dragged into court over his child support and not paying it.

Model citizens don't have to be pulled into court over child support issues.

BTW, what principled stand did Ricky take? He was a quitter. Wow, what a hero you look up to.

He had a charity foundation set up before he left and left them high and dry as well wondering what the hell to do. That sure is a class act! :rolleyes2

Why is he more concerned over a complete stranger's well being more so than his kids, his teammates and fans?

Because for some reason it became personal to them. Like Ricky's quitting took money out of their pockets or ruined their lives. :shakeno:

I agree with you about the way he quit, but how many times does he have to apologize for it? As far as the act of quitting? Earl Campbell may not be a valid reason for you but apparently the tragic results of his career was valid enough for ricky.

He only has to apologize once....and he did. We forgive but cannot forget so quickly. Let us not be naive to what we have here in Ricky. His past mental state ,even before he came to Miami, is questionable. What he did may have came as a surprise to US in Miami, but none of his former teammates or coaches were as shocked.

Is not that people hate Ricky...they just wanna get a high pick for him and use Ronnie more. That's all it is.Nothing wrong with having Ricky backing up Ronnie but we do need some players and if Ricky can bring us a good starter then is all good cos we have Ronnie and that's what people are thinking here.

Ozzy rules!!
