I know many members have not enjoyed many of my posts lately, well here's another one. I just left Buffalorange.com and there is a thread started about Saban and what he is doing in Miami. Let me tell you guys it was a breath of fresh air. That's right, going over to a Bills message board and reading their take on what our rookie head coach is doing, was a breath of fresh air. Most Bills fans who posted in that thread, unlike many of us, understand, respect and fear what he is doing and believe he is getting this team primed to be good year after year. Nobody likes losing, especially me, but why does it seem like their are posters on this board who expected the 2005 Dolphins to compete for a championship in 2005????? This is the question I keep asking myself. Folks may say they didn't, but with all of these "FILL IN THE BLANK" sucks threads you would think so. Does anyone believe another coach could lead this team to the promised land in 2005????? I sure don't. What's really sad I I thinks folks think if Saban had gone with AJ Feeley at QB we woud be much better off right now. GIMME A BREAK. I think Saban patched up some postions with veteran free agents for a chance at repectabilty and that's all. Honestly I think he's going to be a great coach and don't even think Wanny was so bad, well except for making personnel moves. I've finally come to the realization that the players, with the execption of some, are just not very good. When's the last time you thought we were a good tackling defense????????

I think if some of the posters on Finheaven coached the team there would be so many damn personnel changes from week to week this team would be the biggest circus in the NFL. One more thing, I've seen it posted that people think Saban doesn't care about the fans. Who cares, how sensitive are we here???? As long as the team wins down the road I could care less what Saban thinks of the fans.

Come on guys, I always see posts where Dolphins fans pride themselves on being knowledgable fans. If that's true, how come I have to go to the Buffalorange.com to see that what Saban is doing is a good thing.

good post, it is sad when you have to go to a bills site for some fresh air

Good post

Some people want instant gratification. Can't please everyone.

Very, very good post. Very sad that Bills fans understand things about our team that Dolphin fans dont.

Good post, agree. I'm disappointed with the season given our start, but I like the direction the team is going. Its an assessment year. We made a lot of changes and there's a lot work to do in cleaning up some the attitudes, etc left over from the previous era.

First, you think too much.
Second, anybody in their right mind would not expect Saban or any coach to take any team to the superbowl in their first year.
and Third, about the bills fans.... come on they are bills fans.

I'll take a stab....

You're a blind man, and your interpreter is an avid Buffalo Bills fan that just happens to be a member of Buffalorange.com???....

She read the article, and then interpreted it word for word so you could see what Saban is doing is a good thing???....

Did I win???

PHINZ RULE!!!

I don't get the animosity towards him either. He took over a 4-12 team with Gus Frerotte, AJ Feely, and Sage Rosenfels as the QBs. I wonder why people expected him to lead Miami deep into the playoffs this year.

First, his thoughts deserved respect more than half threads done recently.

Second, so we have lots of fans here out of their minds.

Third, I'll give this one to you, though if they are fearing us in the long term, they are understanding something it's been hard for some people here.

Becuase are great, 3rd string QB, Sage Rosenfels, who only needed a chance to showcase his immense talent is on the roster.

Because some people jsut never had realistic expectations for this team. There was one poster who had "We are a legitimate SB contender this year! The doubters will eat crow." as his sig. I think mostly last year was so bad people didnt evan want to think about having another bad year, we have been a wining team for so long we have goten a little spoiled and unrealistic I think.

The overall theme of what you say is correct. Saban is setting us up to be a good team for along, long time. Whether he achieves it is yet to be seen. He is not the messiah and therefore has made a few mistakes, not an avalanche of mistakes but a few. He should have drafted Charlie Frye in the 2nd instead of Matt Roth but this will no longer be a problem if he finds us a QB in 2006. His playcalling is so-so. Overall good but periodically through the course of the game, some unbelievably bad situational play calls on both sides of the ball. This must be improved next year.

As for AJ vs Gus, I think I get Saban finally. AJ is a better QB than Gus. I don't know why people still don't grasp that so I'm not going to get into it. I think Saban looked at AJ this year and saw a QB who would be better than Frerotte but not the QB he wanted on the team next year. I think Saban realized early that he had no QBs on the roster (unfortunately it was after the draft). Since Saban is a system coach and needs players who fit "his" system, he chose to go with Frerotte, not because he's better, but because he can run the system correctly, with few mistakes. Gus will put the offensive players in the right position whereas AJ would be making mistakes and relying on his arm his first year in the new system. Saban is using Gus to evaluate the other ten players on offense, not to win games (which is now painfully obvious). Next year I believe Gus will be let go or at least benched. Our offensive players will know the system and they will carry a new QB while he learns the system. Gus was kept simply because of his knowledge of the offensive scheme and NOT because he's better. We would probably have two more wins with Feeley but for Saban's purposes he felt Feeley wasnt the long term solution so why bother.
