Does anyone remember a playoff picture like this ever happening. I cannot remember a time when it was more likely to get a division title berth than a wildcard. I was looking at the picture and it it highly unlikely that we will get a wildcard. With Indies schedule and the one game that they have on us at this point makes it nearly impossible for us to get ahead of them, and the head to head loss against the Ravens almost seals that, even with their brutal remaining games. Not to mention that I am of the opinion that they could be seriously considered as the best team in the AFC right now, an argument could be made.
With all that said I just find this to be a peculiar year. I am glad that it is in our hands but never have I seen a year with three games remaining and so little in options. Basically with all that can happen in the next three weeks, it all comes down to beating the Jets even if they lose one, we lose one, pats lose one, ravens lose two, you get the point. You can look at this from every angle and you can see a 10 win team or 2 10 win teams missing the playoffs. When has that ever happened? In the past we have seen 8 wins or quite possibly 7 be in the discussions. Just wanted to talk about this because in some ways it is a little frustrating. I realize that we rebounding 1-15 team but we are in a place that has so much promise with so much disappointment possible. To be left out would be hard.

Dolphins missed the playoffs with a 10 win season about 5-6 years ago.
It is due to 4 divisions in the AFC I think when there use to be only 3 and 3 wild card spots it seemed better that way.

Hey, at least we have a much better chance of winning the division now with the Jits losing today. Our destiny is in our own hands, and that's more than most teams can say right now.

I would be for having 7 teams in the playoffs

Bets record gets the bye and 6 teams play, Thats leave 3 winners and the Bye team
Then 4, then 2 and thern SB!

The jets loss really didn't change anything between us and the jets. As far as that goes they could lose again next week and still be in the same situation with us as before the start of today. Bottom line is whether they are a game up or we are a game up it is still gonna be decided on that last week of the season...well between us and the jets that is. If both us and the jets lose another game before the last game of the season the pats will only have to win to win the division if they keep winning.

If the pats would have lost today that would have really helped some. Then we would have one game that we could lose and still win the division by beating the jets. Either way it goes we are gonna have to win the final game on the road at the jets unless they lose both game before then and we win both, AND the pats lose another game along the way. That is the only way we could lose to the jets and still win the division. And as said many times there is really no chance of us making the playoffs unless we win the division.

If Baltimore and Indy both win 1 of their last 3 games . . . that officially ELIMINATES us from the wild card picture. It is very weird that after next week we could be ELIMINATED from the wildcard but be leading the AFC East.

Us being eliminated doesn't mean New England or the Jets are eliminated from the wild card . . . that is even weirder lol.

The jets loss HAD ZERO impact on the playoff picture for the dolphins. it didn't do ANYTHING to improve our chances. the jets would need to lose both of their games the next two weeks against poor teams in order for miami to pass the jets in the playoff picture (assuming the jets win a home game the last game of the season against the dolphins). and that just isnt going to happen.

At this point, Miamis entire playoff hope comes down to beating the jets in new york the last game of the year. Baltimore would need to lose three straight for miami to have ANY hope of a wild card, and I doubt they lose at home to jacksonville the last game of the year with the playoffs on the line.

Plain and simple. MIAMI HAS TO BEAT THE JETS IN NEW YORK TO HAVE ANY CHANCE OF MAKING THE PLAYOFFS. its cut and dry at this point. The whole season comes down to that game.

I mean it was good that the Jets loss because if for some reason we lose against the 49ers this Sunday . . . if New England loses one of their final 3 . . . we still control our own destiny. If the Jet would have won and we lose against the 49ers . . . we still would need the Pats to lose atleast once and we would have needed the Jets to lose atleast once BEFORE they play us (meaning they would need to lose one of the next 2 . . . plus the game against us).

It's minor, but their loss did help a little. But like I said before this week . . . it is vital that we win both of the division games we had left . . . and we now have one down . . . and one HUGE one in week 17.

I am happy about this but it is just hard to imagine after the position where we but ourselves (pretty good spot 8-5, good division record, ect.) that our only option is win the last game of the year and we are in. At this point you would kind of expect to have two or three other teams that you could leapfrog if things went bad for those teams.
