Here are a few notes I have made after today's game. Feel free to agree/disagree or add more.
Good
Good
- Run defense is much improved from 31st in the league last season.
- Offensive line gave up 0 sacks, improving from previous weeks in terms to run blocking, pass blocking was solid considering we were playing Carolina.
- Chris Chambers DOES have talent. It's all about consistency now.
- Ronnie Brown can run with people on his back. This guy is a rookie but is playing light years ahead of his experience in terms of workload (different from production)
- Gus isn't that bad.
- Linehan's play-calling.
- I said it in the chat room and I'll etch it in stone right here. Zach Thomas is the best linebacker in football at the moment in terms of getting done what needs doing.
- An unfortunate watermark of consistency for us this season has been penalties, sloppy mistake-ridden football. False starts, offsides, pass interference calls on crucial plays.
- Reggie Howard.
- Stockar McDougle. I'm not picking on this guy, he held his own but made some crucial mistakes.
- Donnie Jones' inconsistency. He didn't choke today but we need him to rocket more balls.
- Defensive backfield. Gave up a lot of yards but made the big play when it mattered. Will still need to get better.
- Solely on todays game, the defense was poor. We forced turnovers but allowed too many open slide catches down the middle. Whilst we stopped the run relatively well, we allowed for conversions on 3rd + 1, 3rd + 2 situations.
- Nick Saban's dress sense.
